First there was "the math".
By which one party Republican rule in the U.S. was going to be preserved.

Then it became: "If the Democrats win ONLY the House and gain a few Senate seats it will be a crushing loss/disappointment."

Now it's: "Nothing to see here--this merely represents the typical midterm shift in seats in the sixth year of a two term presidency. Not even as big as during some of the past presidencies of the last half century." (never mind gerrymandered districts etc.)

7. I SUSPECT it was simply arrogance, but I wouldn't put attempting to rig things
past these people. No obvious signs of that in this election that I'm aware of, though.
