Kerry statement on the passing of Ed Bradley |

They must have known each other for a long time.
Why were all the best journalists quieted by the network bosses over the last 6 years?
Sad.
Washington, DC—Senator John Kerry today released the following statement on the passing of Ed Bradley.
“Ed Bradley had a relentless commitment to uncovering the truth. He could spot a phony a mile away. Ed was too busy living, fighting, and reporting to ever write a memoir. Instead, his journalistic record speaks for the quality of his character.
“He broke the color barrier as CBS News White House Correspondent and joined Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite on the short list of America’s all-time great broadcast journalists, but he never boasted about any of it. He covered Vietnam, had a deep personal connection with the troops on the frontlines, was wounded and still returned to his assignment – and never bragged about his exploits. He was tough and honest, respected by those he covered and beloved by the American people. This man was a quiet giant in journalism.”

2. I adored Bradley and know he was a private man... |
|
but he really is an enigma to me. I know nothing about his private life, except that he was apparently quite the musician. I always assumed he was gay, but never knew for sure. Did he have a family? None of the obits touch on it, so?
A terrific journalist and African American icon and role model that had to have touched so many lives. And, truly an elegant man... RIP my friend. YOu are missed.
