So when does the Ethics Comm. report on the Foley scandal?
Remember that was oh so conveniently shelved until AFTER the elections?

I did some phonebanking for John Laesch who was running against Hastert. At one point he had drawn within 7 points of Hastert when the Foley scandal was in full bay. If the Ethics committee had followed through on their promise to issue the report before the election, I am convinced Hastert's contituents would have been so repulsed by the cover-up, Hastert would have fallen. Furthermore, Schimkus and Boehner would have fallen as well. When the Ethics committee shelved their final report, Hastert hunkered down, did some campaigning in his District (first time in forever) and went on to win by 20 points.

I cannot wait for our new Democratically controlled House and Senate to begin uncovering all of the dirt on 9-11, Valerie Plame, the Iraq War and more. I believe it's all just as filthy as enabling a predator to continue operating in the page program and frankly, some of these reps are going to be forced out. That's a good thing.

So why are Pelosi and Reid basically telling this Admin that impeachment is "off the table"? It makes no sense unless they are going to overlook some of the criminal activity in the White House. Because that is what they will have to do: they will have to give some of these really heinous crimes a pass in order to honor that promise.

There are more than enough impeachable crimes but if they won't impeach it's just as bad as enabling the predator scandal to go unpunished imho. Impeachment doesn't have to look like the Clinton episode. In fact, I suspect it won't look like that at all but will be about serious crimes and real facts that have had life and death consequences.

Just as I find it appalling that the Ethics Committee was able to withhold their report to "save" Hastert from punishment for his actions at the polls, so too do I find it appalling that Pelosi and Reid are going to enable this Admin to escape justice.

Impeach! Start at Cheney or Bush or both really. But they must be brought to justice or the Rethugs are going to perpetuate this cycle again, and again, and again (Iran/Contra come to mind? when the Dems fell down on the impeachment job then too. And many of those same players are back here too.) If there are no consequences, they will perpetuate their crimes.
