6. Yep
I read in the Kerry forum that Kerry mentioned how this new guy Bush is putting up to replace Rumsfeld is from the BCCI days. Everyone in Bush's administration now it seems to have some sort of tie to that old "bank."

4. bailing out?
the old man has been running the show since day 1. have you paused to wonder why since day one of bush's run for the whitehouse he has always been surrounded by poppy's retreads? there is not one person bush has reached out to who has not been a poppy retread. the son lives through poppy and poppy lives through the son. they are an incestuous family. they don't know where one begin and the other one ends.

13. I'm certainly not going to say you're wrong, but that's not what I heard.
I heard that there was tension between the two regarding foreign policy, and the topic of conversation was off-limits during his visits.
(I think I got that impression when * did an interview in the battered New Orleans 1 year after Katrina.)
For Junior to go to Dad for help with Iraq is a change, methinks.

the country saying he doesn't interfere with his son's presidency? he hasn't taken his fingers off his son's presidency since day one! just pause and observe.

it is to both their benefits (and for different reasons) to portray themselves as independent from one another which is no more true than to say that california is in the east coast and florida is in the west coast.

9. DING DING DING DING GIVE THAT MAN A PRIZE!!!!!!!
NOT ONLY THAT BUT I SUSPECT THAT THE REASON BUSH DUMPED RUMMY POST HASTE AFTER THE ELECTION RESULTS BECAME CLEAR (AND I BELIEVE THAT RUMMY WOULD STILL BE SEC O DEF IF NOT FOR THE ELECTION) IS BECAUSE THEY NEED SOMEONE TO COME IN AND PUT A LID ON EVERYTHING AND I BELEIVE THAT IS WHY THEY GOT GATES AND HIS CIA SPOOK BACKGROUND. I HOPE THEY DON'T JSUT DEFACT APPOINT HIM BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT IT WOULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE TROOPS TO HAVE THIS TURN INTO A SLUG FEST ABOUT THE GATES APPOINTMENT.

11. I think this also accounts for his demeanor at the presser yesterday.
He was sort of giddy and trying to cozy up to the press and have a laugh or two like someone who realizes that the jig is up and that things are as bad as they say and he is relieved that someone else is available to clean things up for him. HEY GEORGE GO OPEN A NEW MALL OR SOMETHING WILL YA! Let the adults clean up the mess!

15. Omigod, today Bob Parry discloses on Democracy Now!
that the Soviets have a report -- says Gates was involved directly with Iranian officials during Iran Contra. So, he was talking to Iran and smuggling weapons to Iraq.

:wow:

How many more of these IranContra creeps are waiting to get back into government?

...the plan is to redraw the map in the mideast, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia are all on the table to be carved up to become parts of constituent Iraqi states as "stable" entities for commercial exploitation by the globalist multi-nationals.

25. A Come-to-Daddy Moment (Maureen Dowd)
<snip>

"Poppy Bush and James Baker gave Sonny the presidency to play with and he broke it. So now they’re taking it back.

They are dragging W. away from those reckless older guys who have been such a bad influence and getting him some new minders who are a lot more practical.

In a scene that might be called “Murder on the Oval Express,” Rummy turned up dead with so many knives in him that it’s impossible to say who actually finished off the man billed as Washington’s most skilled infighter. (Poppy? Scowcroft? Baker? Laura? Condi? The Silver Fox? Retired generals? Serving generals? Future generals? Troops returning to Iraq for the umpteenth time without a decent strategy? Democrats? Republicans? Joe Lieberman?)

The defense chief got hung out to dry before Saddam got hung. The president and Karl Rove, underestimating the public’s hunger for change or overestimating the loyalty of a fed-up base, did not ice Rummy in time to save the Senate from teetering Democratic. But once Sonny managed to heedlessly dynamite the Republican majority — as well as the Middle East, the Atlantic alliance and the U.S. Army — then Bush Inc., the family firm that snatched the presidency for W. in 2000, had to step in. Two trusted members of the Bush 41 war council, Mr. Baker and Robert Gates, have been dispatched to discipline the delinquent juvenile and extricate him from the mother of all messes."
