Specter and Chafee
Hopefully Chafee switches parties or goes independant before January just to give the GOP more bad press and make moderate GOPers more pause about voting Republican. The media likes to talk about Raegan Democrats...maybe soon there will be Clinton Republicans. Also, if Specter went independant and caucused with Democrats that would make the whole thing complete. The GOP would be seen as a far right Nazi like party that only caters to the religious taliban and racists in the South. Also, a GOP senator apparently has lukemia now, so if he leaves, the Dem governor would give us yet another senator.

1. Specter is an asshat. I don't care what he does.

10. Someone dubbed him "Senator Never-mind". Pretty accurate.

2. What would be Chaffee's motivation?
He lost. He is out in January. Why would he want to help the Democrats? If he had switched parties before he would probably still be Senator.

6. Well, if he is still planning to stay in politics then
I can see it. He is a good man. A much better and more decent man than Lieberman will ever be.

5. Arlen Specter is not independent. He is bought and sold many times over.
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 09:00 PM by enough
Please let me, as a lifelong Pennsylvanian, disabuse you of this idea. To Arlen Specter we owe the lifetime appointment of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court, and the abdication of all power to the President in the recent legislation that allows the President to name and disappear "enemy combatants." Arlen Specter is not a potential force for good.

7. Sorry, Spectre's one of the Imperial Guard...
He makes moderate-sounding noises with his mouth, but in his breast beats the tiny shriveled heart of a confirmed culture warrior.

8. That would be nice if he switched
when they came back. If he wants to really do something he should have a long talk with Snowe and Collins.

9. Since Bush** got into office, Specter has been loyal to the R's (on nearly
everything except stem cell research and a few human services issues)
