All this impeachment talk..... |
|
I'm going to throw in my 2 cents worth.
1. Investigate. 2. If there is damning evidence that Bushco deliberately and maliciously violated the constitution, committed treason, or endangered America via national security..... 3.. Then it is the solemn DUTY of Congress to impeach. Sadly--I think they have little choice...for to NOT impeach after damning evidence is provided only makes Congress look more foolish and power hungry. (We can't impeach because that would damage our chances for 2008) I don't think you can make that claim if the evidence is concrete and is real.
Just my thoughts. This isn't about partisanship. It is about the political HEALTH of America. It is UNHEALTHY to ignore blatent violations of the law--just because he is president. He is not above the law. He is not God. He is not king. And THAT is what America was founded upon.
There--done now. :-)

1. the fathers of democracy would agree with you 100 percent.... |
|
It is the duty of the legislative branch to impeach the executive if he/she has committed crimes, and bushco's crimes are just about as egregious as they come. Congress MUST investigate, and if the evidence is there, they MUST impeach and convict.

2. I like your two cents....and I will tell you why |
|
If the President of the USA is not held accountable for crimes against America "Treason" etc then why should the Average Joe be held accountable for any crime he/she commits? It's really that simple and you are right the political HEALTH of America is at stake..

5. It all sounds so civil to "work together" and forgive but.. |
|
your sentiments came to my mind today. My concern is not so much to "get even" but if the president or other officials are just forgiven or the law is retroactively changed to make what they did OK, it will leave the door wide open for more abuses. And BOTH parties should be very concerned about this because the shoe could be on the other foot.
Will Pelosi back peddle on "impeachment is off the table". Howard Dean also expressed that impeachment was not under consideration. Will they somehow "leave it to someone else?"
It would be interesting to hear from some of our experts on how this could unwind and when.
What happened to "They Sow the Wind, and Reap the Whirlwind".

7. Perhaps "off the table" means |
|
That they will not vindictively seek to impeach Bush, that is that they won't inflate or seek evidence for the purpose of impeachment....however, there are matters that must be investigated....and if they find evidence that is damning--I mean really bad...then all options will be put forth.
I honestly don't think they have much choice. If they are a party of integrity--they must follow through. And I think the American people demand such.

once corruption is exposed it no longer remains a partisan issue and becomes, instead, a judicial one. There was Republican support for Democrats in this election, and I predict there will be plenty of support for indictment once the criminal activities see the light of day.

9. Investigations should definitely proceed, |
|
and frankly I don't see any way that ample evidence for impeachment can not or will not be found. If ever there was a case for impeachment, Bush is it. It is because of the possibility of people like him that impeachment exists as a remedy. Thanks for posting!

"Finding" damning evidence should be about as difficult as finding an elephant in a haystack..pun intended.
