11. I'd be very happy with Gore
He tends to appreciate important issues far before the rest of the world does (for example: the internet, or global warming). We need someone with that kind of foresight in the White House.

13. How about finding people who didn't LOSE in the past?
No Gore.

No Kerry.

No Clark.

No, not even Dr. Dean.

We ned to spend the next two years taking somebody like Feingold (not necessarily him, but somebody with some political creds who hasn't lost a presidential bid) an make him (or her) a rock star.

THAT will get us the Executive in 2008.

29. ...which has nothing to do with my contention.
Whether he would have won or lost had the SCOTUS stayed out of it means nothing. The people's perception is that he lost.

We need to create a popular candidate and we need to do it in about a year. Past losers, of whatever ilk, won't help us do that.

33. That'll do it. EVERYBODY votes for a Prez who wins "Best Documentary"...
:eyes:

Sorry. He's made great contributions and he'll probably continue to do so, but he's old news...and he's been tainted. We need a new popular candidate without the baggage.

39. We obviously have different impressions of what the average voter looks for.
Voters have elected an old actor with early Althseimer's who once acted with a chimpanzee.

Voters have elected an actor who played an evil robot from the future.

Voters have elected a jailed convicted felon.

..and the list goes on...

What do these people have in common? A "rock star", bigger-than-life quality (yes, even Trafficant).

"Best Documentary" doesn't exactly elicit the same sort of hype.

Popular vote wins don't mean anything if we don't change the system.

27. I'm not going to fight the "Gore won" battle.
Gore lost. He had more popular votes. Without interference, he may have even had more electoral votes.

But it makes no difference.

The voters have accepted that Gore lost. He can never be the rock star we need to win the White House. It might be unfair, but it's true.

38. Because politically active artists chose to reference his book in their videos?
Or was it his "appearance" on Futurama that convinced you he was a rock star?

I'll clarify. I'm suggesting a candidate with the popular appeal of a rock star, not a candidate that gets his book mentioned in a Melissa Etheridge video.

36. "May?" The recount of FL done after the SCOTUS decision showed the true totals.
Gore won Florida and, because of that, WOULD have had more electoral votes. That's not still a question. That's fact. Even repubs here in Texas have admitted that. The SCOTUS interference decided the 'winner', not the votes.

You've cemented your opinion and nothing will change it. Fine by me.
