My uncle, whose son has Down's Syndrome sent me this link. It makes me want to be a better person. The story is only a portion of the impact, watch the video. Be ready to be inspired and humbled.

The big question I have is, why is this the first time I have seen/heard of this? I know Britney is getting a divorce, I know Bill Cosby settled a sex suit of some sort, and I know Justin Timberlake apparently brought sexy back- but I didn't know about this amazing father and son. Pitiful what we pay attention to in the world these days.

1. i have to add- after a second viewing...
I am not a fan of the music personally, but it does fit with the video nicely.

2. Good questions. That is humbling me to tears
I wish the Jesus stuff made that other stuff make sense, I'd believe in a second if it did.

and nice to see you fleabert, on this joyful week.

4. nice to see you too, old friend!
what an amazing Tuesday and Wednesday we had, didn't we? :-)

I am in complete agreement with you on the religion stuff- It just doesn't add up. I think Jesus was a great guy though, he's on my dinner with anyone in history list...along with Siddhartha and Oscar Wilde.

I don't think I can watch that video again for a day or two- made the tears just run- they are incredible

3. I'm stunned.
There's really nothing I can say to describe how that affected me.

I might say something about barriers. Or celebrating lives. Or supporting someone.

That is a whole new level of being.

5. Stunning is a good word.
hit youtube if you could and rate it- get it seen by more people. It helps to read the story first, but the video can stand alone for sure. I don't have the direct youtube link, but it's easy enough to find.

15. I'm afraid it reminded me
of what a couple of incredibly slack parents I had. I know, I know, they couldn't help it, but it took a genius like William Styron to convince me of that.

16. Thanks fleabert
I didn't think my smile could get any bigger this week but this just spread it from ear to ear!
When humans display such love and devotion it's hard to imagine why the opposite still tears us apart. Sometimes you need a story like this to move forward with hope that anything is possible.

17. you said it perfectly!
this is the type of behavior everyone should emulate- not words on paper, not money making, not war, not peace even- Just living. With a full heart and an active body.

anything is possible- remember, people doubted on Monday if we could pull out a squeaker of a win in the House- look what happened!

22. I've been avoiding this post
I have to admit. I knew it would do just what it did. It gave me hope and renewed my belief that we are both ends of the spectrum as humans. Incredibily inspiring, like this story, and incredibily evil, like blivet**.

I watched the video, and sobbed like a baby.

Makes the challenges I think I have everyday pale by comparisson.

Thanks for posting it. I needed that even if I wasn't sure I could handle it.

26. A Couple Years Ago We Watched Those Two In the Iron-man Triathlon
My partner and I were on vacation in Key West, stopped at a bar for a cool drink and someone was flipping channels between football & the iron-man competition. It just so happened that the father & son duo were on....most everyone in the bar was glued to the tv- there was another tv with football still on. During a commercial we noticed the NFL game on, a player was down, the closed caption said, I think he has bruised his thigh - EVERYONE was yelling at the tv - get up you big baby, etc. - lots of comments were made about who the hero was. Everyone stayed til it ended - we were all crying, shoo. Now I am crying again.

Makes me ashamed of complaining about nearly ANYTHING i think is an 'obstacle' or stressor in my life. We need these reminders once in a while of the greatness of the human spirit.
Thanks for the post.

My wife and I were just bawling by the end of the video. What an inspiration for humanity. It really made me reallize what is important in my life and that is my family.

Thank you so much for sharing this and I would have voted for the greatest but it wouldn't allow me since its over 24 hr limit...
