We ALMOST Have Enough Votes to OVERRIDE the STEM CELL RESEARCH BILL
We definitely have the votes in the Senate. There are enough incumbent Senators who lost their seat and have been replaced by Dems that we now have 69 in the Senate who would support the Stem Cell Research Bill.

We have 279 Reps now who would support it and if the 10 Undecideds go to Dems, We will have 289!!! That's ONE VOTE AWAY FROM AN OVERRIDE / VETO PROOF Stem Cell Bill.

This should be the TOP OF THE AGENDA to get this passed. Bush WON'T BE ABLE TO VETO IT!

4. Yes, and I don't see that as a problem for the new Congress.

7. I thought signing statements could only indicate the Pres did not intend
to follow a law -- that he gets a 'special exception' because he is Unitary Executive.

His signing statements can't influence the laws the rest of us have to obey...

6. This would be great
but I'm not sure if there are 289 reps that would go with it. I know some Dems may actually oppose it (from very conservative districts).

But we may have some luck and may be able to offset that.
