Send Senator Craig Thomas a get well message....
Some things are beyond politics, let's show one of our public servants that we care about and wish him and his family the best. -WB

November 9th, 2006 - U.S. Senator Craig Thomas today announced that he has been diagnosed this week with a form of leukemia. Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. AML is the most common type of leukemia. More than 16,500 new cases occur in the United States each year.

4. here's mine
dear senator thomas,

sorry to hear about your condition.

i know the stress of the campaign didn't help you much. and the outcome of the elections were not favorable for you.

but there's some good news. if you make a speedy recovery rather than stepping down, you can find some relief that joe lieberman won his election in connecticut. he, like you, believes the war in iraq is the right thing to do. please hurry back to the senate because along with yours and joe's votes we can assure that the iraq war will progress just as president bush wants it to. as you know, not nearly enough people have died and been maimed in this war yet...we need you badly to ensure the bloodshed continues. halliburton needs your help to guarantee that their profits and stock prices will continue to increase as well.

i'm sure that with the state of the art healthcare you're receiving you'll be back on your feet shortly. we desperately need you back in the senate so you can continue to vote against this type of healthcare being affordable to us regular citizens.

we're also worried that with a democratic majority in the house and senate that minimum wage is in danger of being increased. we need your continued support of big corporations to ensure that our wages stay as low as possible. please make sure that we continue to struggle to put food on our tables. i hope you're able to continue to secure pay raises for you and your colleagues, though.

as you know, that flaming liberal, michael j. fox, was whining about the lack of stemcell funding and the restrictions on using those discarded fertility clinic embryos to try to help us find cures for diseases like parkinson's disease, alzheimer's, diabetes and even cancer. please hurry back to contine to stifle this research and ensure that those of us unlucky enough to contract these diseases will never be able to have hope for a cure.

there are also economic issues and environmental concerns and we need you back to continue to vote along the republican party lines on these issues to ensure that the interests of big corporations and the very rich will always take precedence over the poor, the working class and over the air we breathe and the water we drink.

so as you can see, we're not only hoping for a speedy recovery, but also for a quick return to the senate so you can help protect all the anti-human policies that the bush administration has worked so hard to enact. we're counting on you, senator. please don't let us down.

best regards,
gato

5. You're right, some things are beyond politics...
Like 600,000 dead Iraqis, 3000 dead American troops and 20,000 wounded, 2000 drowned from criminal neglect. You'll forgive me if I pass on shedding tears for the relatively minimal suffering this bastard will experience.

9. i'm with ya
i don't take joy in this fascist suffering at all. but i do recognize he is part of the problem and the problem is huge. global. death, destruction, injustice, poverty....all supported by him and his repub colleagues.

i hope his state of the art healthcare helps him get better, but first i hope he steps down so we can get a real human being (not a bushbot) in that seat and start undoing the global death, destruction, and suffering that this monster has supported and helped create.

Edited to add: I think it's safe to assume that you wouldn't fine something like this at "that other site" when one of ours is ill. Some would have the decency, but many would not.

12. Here's what I wrote...
Senator Thomas,

I am very sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

Senator, I am a liberal Democrat, but sometimes politics get transcended. I truly wish you and your family the best.

When you are feeling better and you head back to the Senate, please remember that not all Democrats are evil, nor do they wish you harm. Work with your fellow Senators, regardless of political orientation, to ensure that all Americans have the chances in life that you and your family do.

Things like high-quality health care. After all, doesn't a man living in Cheyenne with the same disease you have deserve the same health care you will be receiving?

Get well soon, Senator. And then fight for the people that you represent.

Sincerely
XXXX
