Dick Cheney used to be Secretary of Defense |
|
And during the time he was, a study was commissioned that said the military could more cost effectively outsource some of its basic functions like feeding the troops to outside contracters.
As a direct result of that study (commissioned, remember, while Cheney was Secretary of Defense) that Haliburton received its first billiion dollar contract with the US Military.
Fast forward a couple of years. Dick Cheney leaves government service to work in the private sector. He goes to work for Haliburton, the same company that is now making billions as a result of a study that the military commissioned under his leadership. Where does he start out in Haliburton? Right at the f-ing top!!
COME-ON!!!!! If I was the CFO of some company and awarded a billion dollar contract to some supplier I later went to be the CEO of I would be in jail, and that company would never do business with that supplier ever again.
You guys want to know WHERE the oversight investigations need to begin. Thats it right there......not only do we need to look at Haliburton waste, overcharges and outright theft, but we need to look at why they were given their first contract to begin with.
This Congress needs to commission a NEW study to see if it really is cheaper and more effective to pay large amounts of money to an outside contracter, supply transport, and soldiers to protect the private citizens in a war zone so they can feed the troops and set up latrines. OR is it actually cheaper to you know, let our soldiers take the food with them and have them feed themselves and dig their own holes to set up the latrines.
The best trained, brightest and best military in the world has soldiers that are too stupid too feed themselves or figure out how to set up a crapper? Really?
Thats where it needs to lead at some point......right back to the start.
