How about a break for a unimportant but nice news story?

CARMEL -- A local dog is lucky to be alive after spending five weeks alone trapped in the woods, its leash stuck around a tree.

Hari Palta was walking Indy, a 4-year-old Shiba Inu, on Sept. 22 when Palta slipped, fell and let go of the leash. Indy, who had just been adopted by Palta's son Rahul, 24, ran away.

I find this story enticing because I have dealt with a lot of Shiba Inus. I have my own--he's currently sitting on my wife's chair chewing his toenails. Weirdo. It's not as though we didn't trim them this last weekend.

My wife and I used to foster a lot of problem shibas like this poor fellow. We had to stop because of our adoptee--a Chow-Jindo cross who's become so protective of my wife she has serious issues with a dog not formally of her pack coming anywhere near my wife.

I just thought I'd try to break the contentious mood lately with something that might make you smile.

And, on that note, if you're interested in burning some time with a serious distraction, I could use a few hits to my website. If you like sci-fi and fantasy, http://www.sajewilliams.com is an interesting place to visit. I even have a sample short story available for free. And, since my editor had me excise nearly a chapter at the end of one of my upcoming novels (January), I'll probably be re-writing that chapter into another short story and putting it up on the website just for fun.

Sometimes it's a good idea to take a deep breath and wander away from the serious stuff for a while.

:)

3. Yep... that's them.
Mine is constantly compared to a fox. He looks a lot like one.

They're a wonderful breed, but not usually the lap dog kind. I've known a few exceptions, but mine, so far, isn't one of them.

They're 98% wolf, genetically, btw.
