Poll question: I'm curious DU, what do you think about dems who are freepish on some sinlge issue -
That is, normal dems, nice enough people, who for some completely unknown reason have very un-liberal views on some particular, small subject.

For instance, I (perhaps somewhat freakishly) don't support MJ legalisation, and I know a few DU'ers, even one quite famous one, who say things like "Evolution is just a THEORY" and "Evolution is a religion" and the like.

But here is the main point - on everything else they're great people and solid dems.

So, DU, what do you think about this kind of thing?

P.S. Please don't make this an argument about what I believe with respects to MJ! :) Thanks.

P.P.S. If you can't remember

2. I would say everybody has its own opinions
but that doesn't mean he/she has to be a bad Democrat just because the opinion flows with the rest of the world. Live and let live.

3. I think everyone is freepish on about 20% of ths issues in play
But they also then to be mosre hardline about that issue because they have given it alot of thought.

Unfortunately that 20% is freepishness varies widely from person to person. Thatg effectively makes everyone a target for the majority on that issues.

We need to focus on commonality more than differnces. we need to be understanding of freepish viewpoints. We need to understand that we have a big tent and the only thing that holds it up is the big pole in the middle called "consensus"

4. I do not care. I frankly think English should be national
Because I feel some thing should tie the whole country to gether and I recall a country in Europe that had terrorist problems for this very thing. We should shut out the people coming if it is not legal. Let them get in line and let no one hire them. Their babies should not be citizens if they are not here legal even if they were born in the local hospital. I think they are all GOP things.

8. As long as we are mentioning pet peeves...
Here is my one "freeperish" pet peeve.

Every F'ing time someone on the left talks about some misspent Government funds (like for the war in Iraq), they always talk about the other things that money could buy... like health care or something. And that pisses me off so long as we are running up these huge deficits. It would be much better to say "if we didn't spend X dollars per day on Y, we would only be running up a Z dollar per day deficit!"

10. I just kind of ignore it, unless
they're saying something like "DEMS R FAGS" or something like that. I remember when I first started posting here, I got an email from someone (accidentally sent to me, hah. ), telling their friend about how I was a dirty troll, and everyone should keep an eye on me. I actually encountered a lot of hostility when I first started, which really, REALLY turned me off for a while. I guess it's because I was doing short, humorous posts, and not long, drawn out essays. I dunno. I really took it to heart, though. I was pretty pissed for a while. I think people are too paraniod about 'trolls' here. Everyone has varying opinions, that's what makes this country great. And, by far and wide, most people if they have differing opinions usually add a caveat to their posts, like "Well, I think ----, but I'm not going to force it on anyone else." And, that's why I let differing views here slide. We're all wonderful, Beautiful Democrats. Unless someone blatantly reveals themselves by offending all of us as DEMOCRATS and PEOPLE, then I just let it slide. Difference is FUN, people.

-E!

11. Aha - the old "too many short posts" thing.
Yeah, it's rare that a newbie post only very short things all the time, and it's something that trolls to so they can start threads before getting banned.

People just need to remember that just because trolls do something, that does not mean other, normal people DON'T do it.

But your distinctions sound pretty accurate. :)
