Maybe its an idea for Skinner et al to start a separate thread regarding the media, I'm not a journalist but would like others who are good at explaining and interpreting to help in pursuing this agenda.
This idea came to me after hearing that the man with the earring has passed, great man, Ed Bradley, many would remember him for being a cool guy and others would remember him for being a Journalist. I would like to remember him first as a journalist and then a cool guy. Comes across as a man with humility, even when asking tough questions does so with finesse, never sway, nor take sides. I decided to start this post the day after his passing....which simply put, can be seen as rebirth of journalism, true journalism that is. Its an Honor to use such a great man as an example of how we would like journalism to be in the future, hence the reason for us to take the fight to the media. Others might disagree with me, while some will understand, but the American public deserve better, they have been kept in the dark and have allowed a regime that should not have been in power to get away with crimes towards humanity and now 3000 soldiers and 150.000 Iraqis lives later the media is still deceiving its public its meant to serve.
The media today being owned by corporation is not a good thing and never will be, its not for the benefits of the people.....think about it, how many times does the media goes to commercial within an hour, the initiative has been taken away from them and until something is done about it we will never ever get the news the people deserve....instead it will be brainwashed news...some stalwart sitting in the back room editing and changing stories to cater for the few, while all along we're been misled.
ITS HIGH TIME TO STOP THIS PROPAGANDA MACHINE
America have spoken/woke-up and now its time to start taking apart this machine, make no mistake they're all over and it will take Project X style mission to succeed.
My 2 cents.

1. Guess who now CHAIRS the committee that can call the hearings? |

Big difference between ranking member and Chair. No wonder corporate media tried to destroy Kerry the last 3 years - they did NOT want him in power.
Karma.
Kerry Seeks to Reverse FCC's "Wrongheaded Vote"
Commission Decision May Violate Laws Protecting Small Businesses; Kerry to File Resolution of Disapproval
Monday, June 2, 2003
WASHINGTON - Senator John Kerry today announced plans to file a "Resolution of Disapproval" as a means to overturn today's decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to raise media ownership caps and loosen various media cross-ownership rules. Kerry will soon introduce the resolution seeking to reverse this action under the Congressional Review Act and Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act on the grounds that the decision may violate the laws intended to protect America's small businesses and allow them an opportunity to compete.
As Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Kerry expressed concern that the FCC's decision will hurt localism, reduce diversity, and will allow media monopolies to flourish. This raises significant concerns about the potential negative impacts the decision will have on small businesses and their ability to compete in today's media marketplace.
In a statement released earlier today regarding the FCC's decision, Kerry said:
"Nothing is more important in a democracy than public access to debates and information, which lift up our discourse and give Americans an opportunity to make honest informed choices. Today's wrongheaded vote by the Republican members of the FCC to loosen media ownership rules shows a dangerous indifference to the consolidation of power in the hands of a few large entities rather than promoting diversity and independence at the local level. The FCC should do more than rubber stamp the business plans of narrow economic interests.
"Today's vote is a complete dereliction of duty. The Commissioners are well aware that these rules greatly influence the competitive structure of the industry and protect the public's access to multiple sources of information and media. It is the Commission's responsibility to ensure that the rules serve our national goals of diversity, competition, and localism in media. With today's vote, they shirked that responsibility and have dismissed any serious discussion about the impact of media consolidation on our own democracy."

|
Yes, it is time to revise these laws. Media stations used to be there to service to the public

5. I agree, it should definitely be a prioirity! |
|
It should be a second priority after we regulate the voting machines and their manufacturers. Giving the vote back to the people and re-regulating the media should be the two highest priorities for the 110th Congress.
