Barack Obama is left handed....
just noticed that in a film clip on CNN. I wish he wouldn't use that "curl-around" motion when writing because it's painful to look at -- be proud, Barack, and smear some ink! But as a fellow lefty, I approve of this man.

59. I hated writing with erasable pens and pencils.
Every day at school I would have to go to the bathroom and get a paper towel, wet it down, and wipe my left hand. But I just refused to use the "curl around".

Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 05:29 PM by rocknation
But I consider myself a "natural" lefty because that's the hand I write and hold my silverware/drinks with! I curl around--which a young relative described as "doing homework upside down." Everything else, including playing guitar, I do right-handedly.

37. I'm ambidextrous as well!
I feel pretty comfortable with either hand. When I was in school, one other girl and I were ambidextrous, but our early elementary teacher made us write only with our right hand, saying it would make things more "normal." :eyes: However, I still practiced with my left hand, especially as I got older. I played the trumpet all through school and into college. When I dislocated my right shoulder, I was able to play with my left hand, without any interruption! It's nice being a teacher because no matter what side of the board I'm writing from, I can use either hand- and the kids think it's cool and try writing with their non-dominate hand, unless they, too, are ambidextrous.

57. I'm the same - have to use left hand for writing, fork (but drink with either hand)
But I throw, bat, bowl, etc. right-handed. When I took figure-skating lessons as a young teen - my natural direction for jumps was in the normal "right-handed" direction, but I could only do spins the left-handed way.

but I use that curl around posture when I write with my right hand.

I'm surprised the religious nutcases aren't using his left handed writing as a sign of Satanic possession or something.

Ah, well, give them time.

52. My mom tried that method with me.
Apparently mealtime was a real workout when I was a toddler.

She'd put the utensil in my right hand, I'd transfer it to my left, she'd put it back into my right hand, and I'd throw it across the room.

over and over. (shades of Anne Sullivan and Helen Keller)
Eventually, she conceded and gave up in exasperation.

It's a wonder I didn't starve. Not only am I left-handed, but stubborn as the day is long. :D

32. I've been saying for years...
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 06:06 PM by hughee99
that all things are run by a secret cabal of people from both sides of the aisle. It's not the PNAC, the Carlyle group, the Bilderbergers, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, Skull and Bones, the Opus Dei, or the Freemasons. There's one group of people that you can find playing key roles in all of these organizations and moving them toward the common goal of a left-hand dominated world, the "Southpaw society".

No more shortage of left handed scissors, no more notebooks with spiral binders on the left. Their presence has been imbedded in some cultures for thousands of years, as they've been able to get entire civilizations to write from right to left so they don't get ink on their hands. Is it any coincidence that the three most common letters in the English language (E,T and A) are all on the LEFT side of the keyboard. Their dominance seems more than clear in major league baseball, the arts, and politics.

Their ranks include many members of the British Royal family, including Elizabeth II, the Big Dog, Poppy Bush, Gerald Ford, Ben Franklin, Nelson Rockefeller, Harry Truman, Ross Perot, Bertie Ahern, Napoleon, Caesar, Castro, Hugo Chavez, Ghandi, Benjamin Netanyahu, Michelangelo, Raphael, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec, Matt Groening, Leonardo da Vinci, Goethe, Lewis Carroll, H.G. Wells, Tolstoy, J.S. Bach, the Allman brothers, Beethoven and Bob Dylan.

Is it any shock that Billy Ray Cyrus is famous? He's a lefty. So is Borat (Sasha Baron Cohen). Why are Fran Drescher, Dustin Diamond (Screech from Saved by the Bell), Joey Lawerence and Larry the Cable Guy famous? You gussed it, ALL Lefties. Even Ed O'Neil and Joe Piscapo rode the lefty wave to fame.

It's all a big conspiracy, WATCH OUT FOR THE LEFTIES!!!

  :hi: :headbang: (even these smiles are lefties (I think)!)

Hope you enjoyed this, now back to your regular discussion.
