Tristero's point is a good one. Gates' experience is in the CIA, he doesn't have any military or defense credentials of any kind. Imagine George H.W. Bush or George Tenet suddenly becoming the Secretary of Defense. It's the same thing.

The best way to let Bush know there is a new sheriff in town, and reassure the American people that Bush's cronyism is at an end, is to refuse to appoint another unqualified Bush family retainer. But Democrats won't do that unless we cure their bi-partisanship hangover for them.

1. This is why we have confirmation hearings.
At least let the process work.

5. But it removes the bitartisan issue.
The Dems won't be able to use that.

Military experience is not a requirement and many have not had it.

So, if a nomination of Lieberman goes through, the gov of VT names the senators replacement.

Goodbye senate.

9. So,
do we take that chance?

KOS has been all over this guy and he first brought this up as far as I can tell. But it does get one thinking that maybe that was the plan all along.

3. Do you suppose Bush * will try to get Gates
in by December, by the lame duck Senate, before the new Dem Congress gets a chance to be seated in January?

7. That's a rhetorical question, right? Similar to...
"Does Cheney shoot friends in the face?"
