My thoughts about '08.
We need to be careful. Winning the Presidency is of high importance, of course. But let's not forget that we will have all 435 House races to fight and win and another 33 Senate seats to go after.

I think we need to start campaigning NOW for our '08 Congress-critter races, first by educating the public about our beliefs and goals and then once candidates come aboard, we need to stress those as well.

You know that the Repukes aren't going to sit back and let us keep our majorities without a tremendous fight. We need to start again very soon. Such is the nature of today's politics.

But take a couple of weeks and celebrate, glad-hand and rejoice, but after that, let's roll up our sleeves and continue to fight.

We have a long way to go, folks.

Courage,

Darkhawk32

2. I am in absolute agreement here. As a member of PDA, I agree with
our inside/outside strategy. The party must be refomed within by action from outside. The first step is to keep the party in power and then to pressure the challengers of those who are not on the bandwagon to toe the progressive line and get support starting NOW!

All the progressive potential candidates ought to be making the BBQ and Rotary Club luncheons ASAP! Getting their names in the papers by LTTE and other PR methods. That means that the present court house cliques need to be unseated by grass roots democratic action at the precinct and state level.

We need to form progressive clubs outside the formal party structure and have enough clout to be able to be the delegates in New Orleans (my guess for the convention)...

But we have to make the candidates viable!

WE HAVE TO KEEP BOTH HOUSES!!!

And then the White House.

Call us The New Model Army, the neo-puritans, or sans-coulottes...even barn burners or bomb throwers, I care not a whit. The Party must be returned to the People and the corporations be damned, they are not people and have only rights that the law suffers.
