I mean, we all know how little the last Congress worked. They made 1800 dollars a day polishing the President's shoes, after all.

Let's go for a Congress that works HALF the year, at least. That begins investigations into corruption, and issues subpoenas to dig out the dirty deals and bring them to the light. That introduces legislation to defend and empower the middle class. That finds a path out of the dry swamp of the Middle East. That begins shoring up OUR security rather than making noises about it and sending our soldiers to kill other people.

We want to see a "do SOMETHING" Congress, a Congress that realizes that they're there to represent the PEOPLE who elected them, not the special interests that helped fund their campaigns.

We'd like to see REAL campaign reform, something like public financing of elections, and the ejection of dirty dealers like Abramoff (not HIM, specifically, but those of his ilk) off of 'K' Street and out of Washington entirely.

We want to see increased funding for education. The restoration of Pell Grants and Student Loans. We want to see legislation that provides real answers rather than providing for standardized tests.

We want an end to Corporate Welfare. No tax breaks for polluters. Penalties for CEOs and Board members of companies that sink pension funds. Real accountability for fraud.

We want to see support for American Labor. We want the people to have a real voice in their workplaces again.

We want SCIENCE, not superstition and wishful thinking, to decide what tack we need to take to protect our environment. To end the poisoning of our children, to defend our environment from those who would destroy it to make a quick buck.

We want ACCOUNTABILITY for those who have lied to us, stolen from us, borrowed against the future of this country, and tried to play us all for fools.

We want the restoration of journalistic integrity. We want to hear FACTS, not spin. We want the media monopolies broken and REAL fair and balanced reporting on the air.

This election wasn't a mandate. It was the American People saying to the Democratic Party. "Show us what you've got."
