For me, it's a tie between Allen & J.D. Hayworth

72. Mark Kennedy wasn't just beaten, he was pounded into the ground
The estimated population for Minnesota is just under 5.2 million. About 2.2 million voted in the Senate race and Klobuchar beat Kennedy by 440,000 votes.

Besides Kennedy, the other race I enjoyed was in my (state) senate district. The state senator we had was a nasty old Republican wingnut that I think has represented the district since before Minnesota was a state. He's been known to send nasty letters to his opponents after he's won reelection more less asking how they could have had the gall to run against him. It was a real upset and something of a surprise to see him go down.

18. those people deserve so much credit for taking that abomination down.
i live is District 3, we have Lungren and unfortunately he got re-elected but the democrat that ran against him Bill Durston was a first timer and got close to 40% of the vote, Doolittle is up in district 4 and that was also a close one. When Doolittle gets indicted and steps down i'm hoping his opponent Charlie Brown, yes Charlie Brown can win that seat.

36. It was a real joy to see all republican senators
and most of the congressman inspecting the site of the nuclear test with
the vice president when the trigger misfired. . . too bad about the S&P 500
corporate board retreat 200 yards away, and that the trigger misfired on the
surface before the bomb was lowered to depth.

And thus ends the last 'underground' overground test and the stupid white racists
before the regeneration of america and the ending of nuclear weapons arsenals around
the world.

And I'm in PA, so, it's nice to have a Democratic senator representing me, now. Santorum had a habit of speaking whatever came to the surface of his mind, and there was a lot of surface, there. But you know, I really didn't know much about George Allen before this election, and the more I learned, the less I liked, and since the PA race wasn't all that close, I think seeing Allen go down was actually more satisfying.

Too bad Durston lost this one... but he has the nads to give it another go. My sister is a pediatrics murse at Kaiser, and Durston is a doctor there. Word is he is a great guy.

Also, it was tough to see Doolittle get re-elected, but he will be gone soon, anyway.

Frankly, all things considered, if someone had asked me if I could live with Lungren and Doolittle so long as Pombo got the ax, i would have taken the deal. Fact is, Doolittle's district is so red it should have its own color, and Lungren is so stupid I don't see him being much of a problem for Madame Speaker (god I just love saying that... "Madame Speaker Nancy Pelosi".)

62. That Kansas attorney general who was searching everyone's abortion records
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 10:17 PM by rocknation
and I live in New Jersey!

Morrison vows focus on crime

...(P)rosecutor Paul Morrison...unseated anti-abortion warrior Phill Kline...in one of the most hard-hitting state campaigns in recent memory...Shortly after taking office, Kline launched a secret inquisition, seeking medical records (from)...abortion clinics...and Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri.

...(T)he clinics asked the Kansas Supreme Court to block the subpoenas...(because) Kline was on a fishing expedition...The court allowed the records search, but only after ordering that the patients’ privacy would be protected...

Morrison said Kline’s inquisition was an abuse of power to satisfy his political agenda...“I’m going to remain focused on fighting crime...fraud and abuse...Tonight is a victory for people that believe the attorney general of (Kansas) should above all else enforce the law in a fair and even-handed way.”

65. Allen, Santorum, Blackwell, Harris ; Allen #1, the rest are a tossup
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 10:56 PM by kenny blankenship
These are all genuinely scary folks. Allen was the most scary because of his 2008 Presidential chances, which hopefully are now flushed away (not to mention his barely veiled, lifelong racism and violent tendencies). Harris and Blackwell have both shown their willingness to cut the very throat of democracy to get ahead in the rethuglickan organization. Santorum is creepy like Harris-- with that special "starring in their own private Bible Story" vibe--but he never made me worry about him becoming President, like Allen did. (I've learned since his defeat that Creepy Rick definitely meant to run for the White House.) Actually I always thought he was kind of a joke, because he radiated creepiness like a neutron star gives off X-Rays, and thus I rated him not much to worry about. But there I go again, "misunderestimating" the appetite of the GOP for sideshow freak idiot candidates for Pres. Soooo glad he's gone. Just because he actually made it to Senator, though, he gets runner-up.

70. That mealy-mouthed J.D. Hayworth.
Every time he opened his mouth... Well, let's put it this way, he gives new meaning to the word, Repuke.
:puke:

I realize he was not running for anything, but his over the top bullshit has been driving me batty for the last few years. The announcement of his pending resignation gave me a smug satisfaction and reinforced my belief that karma can and will eventually bite guys like him in the ass.

82. Personally
I was the gladdest to see Bob Beauprez lose to Bill Ritter as governor. I don't think I could have lived under a government run by Beauprez.

I would have liked to have seen Tancredo die a horrible death at the hands of some sort of raging inferno, but alas, it was not to be. Also, Marilyn Musgrave! Gah! Not that I liked Paccione, but anything would ahve been better than Musgrave.

Nationally, probably Santorum was my favorite loss of the election.

113. Allen!
Because, with my primary and general election votes, I had a hand, however small, in bringing about the Macacalypse.

This is only the second time I voted for a winning candidate where my vote mattered (the first being Tim Kaine a year ago; otherwise, my dumb forgetful ass didn't vote absentee for non-presidential elections while I was off at school). It's a feeling altogether new to me, and quite frankly?... I like it... :P

Mainly that corrupt SOB represented my state. He only gave away the Abrmoff money because he got caught. Who knows which other crooks helped fill his coffers.

Though I'm enjoying Allen's fall. Wanna be President? Kiss that goodbye, FOREVER.

117. Ken Blackwell, definitely.
Also Katherine Harris, for the same reason. I'm glad the word got out that if you're complicit in STEALING an election, you can forget about ever WINNING one. It was especially gratifying to see Ken Blackwell reduced to begging the black community: "Vote for me because I'm black and I grew up in the projects!" after depriving so many of them of their right to vote in 2004...and STILL getting his clock cleaned for his trouble.
