U.S. More Threatening than Iran, China or Israel
Many adults in 20 countries are concerned about the effect of the United States in the world, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies for Maclean’s. 33 per cent of respondents believe the U.S. is the greatest threat to global stability among seven nations.

Iran is second on the list with 18 per cent, followed by China and Israel with 12 per cent, Iraq with 11 per cent, and North Korea with nine per cent. The survey was conducted before Oct. 9, when North Korea announced it had successfully carried out a test detonation of a nuclear weapon.

In his January 2005 inauguration speech, U.S. president George W. Bush said, "It is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world."
