1. First and foremost, the Constitution must be restored.
And first of that, *must* be the restoration of habeas corpus.
The rest of it should not be given short shrift.

As Churchill said on the fall of the Europe mainland:
If we are now called upon to endure what they have been suffering, we shall emulate their courage, and if final victory rewards our toils they shall share the gains, aye, and freedom shall be restored to all. We abate nothing of our just demands; not one jot or tittle do we recede. Czechs, Poles, Norwegians, Dutch, Belgians have joined their causes to our own. All these shall be restored.

Like Churchill said, all these shall be restored.

2. The tax cuts implemented at the start of the war seriously need to be reexamined.

3. If it's too late to secure ppl's jobs against outsourcing to mongolia
could they at least have the rudiments of a guaranteed healthcare system?

How about making it easier for working & middle class folk to send their kids to college so maybe they can get one of those highpaying non-exportable jobs.

let's shift the tax burden UP for a change?

Nobody understands why we're at war in iraq. It's not that they're stupid, it's the war that was stupid. We can't "win" it. Pull the F*ing plug! War costs HUGE money. (That part about Iraq the people do understand.)

People who work for wages haven't had a pay raise since...since...since the last Republican President managed to balance a budget. Raise the minimum wage.

And stop companies from abandoning pensions/benefits
They promise their long-time workers this paltry compensation for so long, then one day decide "sorry, no more of that." Actually, I'm wrong. They don't even say sorry.

4. Before all else
election reform
media reform

without these, any other gains remain in jeopardy.

5. The Big Six Are:
Ending the war in Iraq
Restoration of electoral security with the return to paper ballots
Health Coverage for all Americans, and an end to the waste in healthcare spending
Addressing the failure of NAFTA, CAFTA, and the WTO to provide job security and a just wage as well as a level playing field in foreign trade, in short, a policy directed towards the workers and consumers and not corporations.
An energy policy that is geared towards renewable energy and independence
Stewardship of the environment and reduction of green house gases
Real Democracy in which lobbyists’ influence through donations to candidates no longer have an impact in our electoral system.
A return to traditional American civil liberties, including strengthening our constitutional rights instead of having them abridged through executive actions and the Patriot Act.
A full investigation of the intelligence and counsel given the executive before the lead up of the Iraq War and taking the appropriate actions in response when warranted, even if they be indictment and trial or impeachment.

A version of this is soon going to be on the internet as a position paper for a certain Democratic group...we are editing it right now. Sneak peek.
