Dean: Democrats will honor need for change in Iraq

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- "The overwhelming election victories for Democrats shows the strong desire of citizens for a different course in Iraq and the war on terror, the Democratic National Committee chairman said Saturday, as Americans celebrated Veterans Day.

"Today our nation honors the sacrifices of our veterans who have honorably served and protected our nation," said Howard Dean in the Democrats' weekly radio address.

"We also honor the sacrifices of their families and our brave troops who are serving around the world, including those in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"Voters also made it clear that they want defense policies that are tough and smart. ... We will listen to the military, take their advice, and ensure that our troops and agencies have the tools and equipment they need to defend our freedom," he said."
