Do yourselves a favor this weekend...
and take some leisure time to watch V for Vendetta again, or, if you haven't seen it, for the first time.

It's a hell of a thing to remember how you felt watching it before Tuesday, only to feel ever so much better watching it now.

Remember, remember, the fifth of November...because in 2006, the fifth of November was the last Sunday before the wheel came round again.

1. I saw that movie.
Supposely, the movie is based on a comic book written by Alan Moore.
"Alan Moore was writing about something which happened some time ago. It was a response to living in Thatcherite England... This is a response to the world in which we live today. So I think that the film and the graphic novel are two separate entities."

-Hugo Weaving (actor that plays the role of V)

3. Very true
The graphic novel is an ode to anarchism, something the movie slides over. The movie, however, does very well at folding the basic themes of the book around modern issues. My friends who are wild fans of the novel were afraid the movie would not do it justice, and were happily surprised when they finally saw it.

Read the book, too. It is amazing.

4. I'd like to, but I loaned my copy to a friend. She's watched it twice
and wants to watch it again. Maybe I should go see her tonight....

6. My new motto - Remember, remember the 4th of November, 2008.
We will sweep the Idiot Son out of office on November 4th, 2008. We just never let up, work our asses off and get a Dem in the White House. Only then will we truly have the power to clean this mess up.

Watched the movie with my grandkids and they GOT it. It flew right over the head of their neocon father but they got it.

7. Heh heh. "Remember, remember the 7th of November. . ."
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 10:49 PM by DinahMoeHum
was said more than a few times here at DU.

And, boy, did the American people give a 7th of November "that shall never ever be forgot".

:kick::kick::kick:

I've got both the DVD and the graphic novel.

My favorite line in the graphic novel (which never made it to the screen) concerned the pedophile bishop, and was so apropos given the number of sex scandals that hit the news recently:
"There may be no peace for the wicked, but the righteous can get a piece whenever they feel like it"
