What to do with a wasted presidency
By any measure George Bush has been severely diminished by his party’s defeat. The term “lame duck” does not adequately describe his reduced stature after “The Thumpin”. Although he was not on any ballot, the fall of the Republican leadership is a crushing personal defeat for the very fallible man they invested their party’s future in. Any of his usual bluster and bravado will now only be seen as comical and pathetic. His efforts to resuscitate John Bolton and warrantless wiretapping resemble a beaten fighter struggling to rise from the bloody canvas as the count reaches ten. Sadly this is a man lacking the character to salvage his presidency. Even Richard Nixon had a history of returning from ruin. George W. Bush has a life history of running from his failures. That’s not the best résumé for the nation’s highest office, particularly when facing the perils his staying the course has led us to.

Part of Bush’s value to the ideologues that put him in office was his ability to champion their causes, if even in a most simplistic way. After the electoral debacle he would be ineffective at even hawking hangover pills on television. His value to his remaining supporters has been diminished as much as his stature. A man who was never fit to be president has been debilitated even further. The reasons to keep him in office are few but the exit strategy from six years of failed leadership is not clear. Impeachment would be traumatic and resignation would not be without its problems, but two more years with a burnt out loser at the helm would be insane. Maybe it’s time for a designated driver.

4. Count me in for impeachment......
I tend to believe that the damage done to the USA and the rest of the globe as a result of this administration's policies (antic if you will) leave us with little choice but to impeach TheShrub or at a bare minimum censure.

As a nation that has a nasty habit of claiming *the moral high ground* maybe it is about time we looked at things in a moral or ethical manner. This would be a good first step. Tell the world through impeachment that we sorry for wasting many lives, causing great fear on a global basis and attempting to *rule the world*.

If it is true the USA is the only superpower left then we have a clear road ahead to lead the world. Not by violence or economic manipulation, but by example. If the mission of the the democracy in USA is the right of self government, freedom from fear and want, freedom of religion, freedom to assemble, freedom to speech etc, then to me the mission is simple:

Begin to unite the world instead of dividing it. Respect other governments as if they were our own. Begin to include those poorer nations as if they were our next door neighbors economically.

But that must start at home. First step is to hold political leaders, corporate leaders and the whole shebang of powerful people who have run this country amok accountable.
