Best Buy using "Happy Holidays." Under fire from Freepturds. Email here
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15667442/site/newsweek/site/newsweek/

Best Buy has announced they will be using "Happy Holidays" this coming Christmas shopping season, and they will not be using "Merry Christmas."

Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Co. Inc., says their advertising will not be using the term "Merry Christmas." "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said.

2. I always looked at BB as a republican supporter
sorta like wally world. I admire their action because they had to know the world of shit they were letting themselves in for by making a conscious decision to go the happy holidays route.

6. I just created a seasonal greetings card for an Insurance company.
There is corporate safety in a generic message.

Inbred freepers just don't get it.

7. Nah, that was just the GOP opening "culture war" salvo last year going....
..into this election year to fire up the old base. They will keep it in storage to open the next important election year. There is little use in trotting it out now. Only a few freepers who actually buy into that nonsense or didn't get the memo will make a fuss this year.

And look to the imigration issue to quitely die out until 2008 as well.

Then again, I could be wrong...

8. If you think about it
Happy Holidays and Season Greetings have been part of advertising for as long as I can remember.

As Best Buy mentions there are several celebrations during December and advertisers realize they cannot be exclusive.

The last few years of this war on Xmas crap is manufactured bullshit from Faux News and the radical RW to manufacture outrage within the ranks. This only shows their intolerance for anything that does not bow down to them and their fold.

These pseudo christians obviously don't understand their own religion and the teachings of Jesus. Looks as though they need to spend more time in sunday school.

10. I don't understand why Freepres think this is a big deal
it makes sense from a business perspective for a business to do whatever is least likely to offend people. People who don't celebrate Christmas might indeed to offended by people assuming they do. Or at least annoyed. I can see that. But the only reason Freepers are offended is because of this sanctimonious bullshit thing they have going about every single issue that comes up anywhere.

13. As far as I am concerned
Edited on Sat Nov-11-06 06:34 PM by KSU Wildcat
it is their company and they can use any holiday greeting they want. I buy most of my electronics from them and will continue to do so regardless of whichever term they choose to use...
