Poll question: OK, so impeachment's off the table. What now? |
|
As Pelosi and other bigwig Democrats have said, they're not going to immediately push for Bush's impeachment. That sucks, since I would love to see Bush and his cronies thrown out of office, then thrown into prison for war crimes, racketeering, lying, treason, etc.
So what can we do?
I do suggest a few options...

1. I reject the premise of the poll. |

Investigations are a natural precedent to impeachment. Impeachment is the logical conclusion of the investigations, given the guilt of this administration and the amount of evidence already amassed. Please stop perpetuating unnecessary distinctions. They are confusing people.

Every impeachment begins with an investigation. Let the investigations begin and trust me, if the goods are found it will happen - the impeachment

Try to find the truth. Kick as many asses and take as many names as you can. Don't let them get away with anything, but don't impeach if the country doesn't want it. Ringo

4. Investigate fully - then let the People decide ... |
|
IMHO, it was a brilliant political move on the part of Dems to say that "impeachment was off the table". Saying otherwise would have cost votes in the election, e.g. from people who don't want government tied up with endless hearings, etc., to the detriment of getting the nation's business done.
Let the investigations proceed and, once they show what we all know they WILL show, the People will be screaming for Bush's head.
At that point, the Dems can respond: "We know we said impeachment was not our goal. However, the citizenry is now insisting upon it. We have no choice but to acquiesce to the will of the American people."

no investigation is even required, he could be impeached immediately. Why is this off the table? What is being held over their heads? A terrorist attack?

January 3rd. That cannot be what so many people are arguing for here- it'd be beyond loony.
INVESTIGATIONS beginning in January. Whether or not impeachment lay at the end of that road can be determined when the investigations are complete, and all the Bush Administration's dirty laundry is on display. Who knows- at that point, the whole public may be clamoring for impeachment. It may be a win/win.

for all the truth we can get. I can see it now: "ok we'll resign GWB, but we have to run Jeb against Hillary in 2008!"
