Abu Hamza al-Muhajir - Further proof Al-qaeda is FAKE.
Google Abu Hamza al-Muhajir or with an 'e' in the last syllable.

He's all over the news as the 'leader of Al-qaeda in Iraq. Trouble is, he seems to be in an Egyptian jail and has been for 7 years.

Here are the current stories.

The Associated Press
Friday, November 10, 2006
CAIRO, Egypt -- The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq claimed in a new tape released Friday that his group had mobilized 12,000 fighters and was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected.

A man who identified himself as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir taunted President Bush in the audio tape, challenging him to keep American troops in the country because the fighters had not shed "enough of your blood."

Tape claims 12,000 al-Qaeda fighters mobilized
Associated Press
Cairo — Al-Qaeda in Iraq claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq and said it had mobilized 12,000 fighters who had “vowed to die for God's sake.”

...“The al-Qaeda army has 12,000 fighters in Iraq, and they have vowed to die for God's sake,” a man who identified himself as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir said.

Mr. al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, also urged the U.S. to stay in Iraq so his group would have more opportunities to kill American troops. “We haven't had enough of your blood yet,” he told the U.S.

Al Qaeda gloats over Rumsfeld
Fri Nov 10, 2006
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A purported audio recording by the leader of Iraq's al Qaeda wing gloated over the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, as a top U.S. general said the military was preparing to recommend strategy changes.

Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, said in the recording posted on the Internet on Friday that the group had 12,000 armed fighters and 10,000 others waiting to be equipped to fight U.S. troops in Iraq.

Here's his picture in the current CNN story:

Wikipedia and answers.com try to document his past, pointing out all sorts of contradictions, like his being a nobody and being in prison in Egypt.

Al-Jazeera (agency reports) and raw story cited an Egyptian report in July saying he was in prison in Egypt.

Zarqawi successor 'in Egypt jail'
Thursday 06 July 2006, 13:59 Makka Time, 10:59 GMT

Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, the purported successor of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, is in an Egyptian prison and not Iraq, a lawyer has claimed.

Egyptian newspaper Al-Masri al-Yawm has quoted Mamduh Ismail as saying he met al-Muhajir, also known as Sharif Hazaa, or Abu Ayub al-Masri, in Tura prison in Cairo, where he has been held for seven years.

"Sharif Hazaa is in Tura prison, and I met him two days ago while I was visiting some of my clients," Ismail, a lawyer known for defending Islamist groups, told the newspaper.

Conclusion: All this al-qaeda shit is nonsense - spooks trying to scare the public, or kids on the internet having a laugh - or both

1. What's interesting is that the White House "had no comment" on the story.

If it was legit you'd think they would jump all over it as "proof" that Al-Qaeda wanted the Dems to win.

3. It looks like the DOD invented him but didn't verify the details.
So AP and Reuters must know he is an invention, but their news stories continue as if this is all real. Mayne they even start to believe ther own propaganda since they see it repeated so much.

Dissension in the Ranks over Al-Qaida's New Chief in Iraq
By Evan Kohlmann
Since the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on June 8, the U.S. military has been aggressively engaging the news media regarding the airstrike that killed Zarqawi and his potential successors as chief of Al-Qaida. Within days of Zarqawi's passing, the Pentagon focused its attention primarily on a little-known Egyptian mujahideen middleman known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri--who, for most of us, first surfaced in a CENTCOM most wanted list about a year and a half ago. When Al-Qaida subsequently announced that Zarqawi's actual successor would actually be another unknown named Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, the Pentagon revised their earlier statement and Major General William Caldwell explained to a press conference, "We think that Abu Ayyub al-Masri is in fact, probably, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir. They are probably one and the same."

Unfortunately, this conclusion has been called into serious doubt by a host of fairly credible sources. Many in the jihadist community that support Al-Qaida are openly scoffing at Major General Caldwell's latest press conference and they have called upon the Al-Qaida-umbrella group the Mujahideen Shura Council (MSC) to issue a new statement and clear up these "lies." I have also spoken with civilian analysts in the U.S. government responsible for tracking insurgents who expressed strong skepticism about the supposed "dual identity" of Abu Ayyub. They have even questioned details pertaining the photo distributed today in the media that purportedly depicts Abu Ayyub.

It is certainly possible that these press conferences are a deliberate ploy by the U.S. military to flush out Al-Qaida and force them to better identify their replacement leadership in the wake of Zarqawi's demise.
