Aaagh -- need help puncturing Viguerie's lies
I just heard Richard Viguerie's interview on On the Media. In it, he gives the following mind-blowing quote:

This election result was a testimony to conservatives' success. Not one Democrat that I have heard of ran for office this year calling themselves a liberal. Not one. And very few would even use the euphemism for liberal, 'progressive'. They did everything they could to blur their liberal ideology and put forth no liberal program or policies for America.

What crap. And of course, the host did nothing to challenge this moonbat assertion.

I'd love to find a bunch of quotes to refute Viguerie's premise and send them to OtM with a request for a correction. Anybody wanna help me out?

The Dems may have avoided loaded terms, but the Republicans would not even admit they were Republicans!!

3. DLC run campaigns have always shied away from the words
"liberal" and "progressive." It's why I encourage people to visit places like Vote Smart and Progressive Punch to compare voting records. The DLC would have us believe that everybody who runs for office is playing ball with big biz and Wall Street and nobody's looking out for us.

I would dearly love to see the party kick the DLC to the curb and take a page out of Brian Schweitzer's book on how to get elected, by running as an unapologetic progressive populist who doesn't speak in nuances to ordinary folks who are sick of slickly packaged candidates who say absolutely nothing.

So he's right, in a sense, but it's not the GOP that has them hogtied and tongue tied. It's the conservatives in their own party.

4. On the other hand, PLENTY of "conservative" Republicans were unseated.
So how does THAT math compute, Vig?

5. I really think the statement is false on its face

I know I've heard Sherrod Brown call himself a liberal. I'm just trying to find some documentation to back this up.

6. Well
In my district the Publican called our candidate a liberal every time he had a chance. But people voted against the conservative and for that there librul. Go figure.

7. Exactly
Near the end of the race, there was no bigger Repug Boogeyman than Far-Left Commie Nancy Pelosi and her scaaaary "San Francisco Values". And yet, the 'Pukes still got their collective ass handed to them.

Now they want to pretend that we all really voted for conservatives. Sometimes I think these guys are running a pool to see just how stupid their supporters are.
