Here is the Republican definition of "conservatism".
When Republicans talk of cutting government spending and shrinking the national debt and call themselves conservatives, they are not serious. They are just blowing smoke out of their hypocritical asses. The sad truth is they, the Republicans, are the biggest spenders of all time. In six short years, they have run up over $4 trillion dollars in debt, an amount equal to all the Presidents from George Washington thru Bill Clinton! And they have the gall to call themselves "conservatives". How do they look at themselves in the mirror? They are the biggest lying sacks of shit that ever walked this Earth...

1. Contrary to what the divide and rule crowd would have the
uncomplicated public believe, "liberal" and "conservative" are not polar opposites, but quite complementary.
Most democrats are a bit of several proclivities- liberal, conservative, progressive, etc.
Now that a rather large number of our "conservative" brethren and awakening and discovering this for themselves-and voting lefty-the erstwhile republicans are becoming more a homogeneous mixture of greed, power lust and nuts!

Now if I were wearing a tin foil hat... I'd say reagan, bush, bush were trying to bankrupt the country specifically to undo FDR's New Deal. Like, sorry folks, no more $.

3. That has been my suspicion for a long time,
that Bushco's plan was to bankrupt the country so they could privatize EVERYTHING!

4. It's natural to think they're stupid.
I just don't believe that.

Agree.

8. I don't underestimate them or joke about them either.
I believe that the neocons have infiltrated and taken control of the Republican Party. Traditional Republicans are fiscally conservative and believe in a smaller and less intrusive federal government. The neocons are the opposite of this, running up the most massive deficit in U.S. history and making the government more intrusive. I know people who are traditional Goldwater Republicans and although we disagree, we respect each other's views. Republicans are our mothers and fathers, our sisters and brothers, our sons and daughters. The vast majority of them are just regular people and not this monolith of evil as some like to portray them. We just won one election, not making massive, controlling gains in both houses and with the Republicans still controlling the White House. There are many things which we can do, but there is no point in strutting around, throwing our weight around, trash talking and acting like we are really bad.
If the American people want that attitude, they have had the Republicans for years.

5. Oh, you mean the bunch who call themselves conservatives and Republicans.
The ones who have taken control and possession of the Republican party. Just because they "call" themselves conservatives and Republicans does not mean that they are. Believe me, there are millions of people in this country who really are conservatives in fiscal matters and believe in a small government and are not lying sacks of shit. I would reserve that title for the neocons who are masquerading as conservatives. True conservatives are waking up to the fact that their party has been hijacked.
