Chicago Trib: How Rahm Emanuel helped end an era of Republican rule
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-061111rahm,1,6112136,print.story?coll=chi-news-hed&ctrack=1&cset=true

According to the article, no one else mattered in this election, just Emanuel. Voters? Nope, just Emanuel. Democratic Party? Nope, just Emanuel. Candidates? Nope, just Emanuel.

During the past year, the Tribune had exclusive access to the strategy sessions, private fundraisers and other moments that shaped this victory. The newspaper agreed not to print any of the details until after the election. Now that the votes have been counted, the story of how Emanuel helped end an era of Republican rule can be told.

He did it, in large measure, by remaking the Democratic Party in his own image.

1. Oh, God, not another Rovian king. I wish they'd stop with the
deification. It always turns to defecation.

2. That's what selling access does
And Emanuel's apparently good at it. I shall remember that fact.

4. In the grand assembly line of the Democratic victory
...Rahm Emanuel is the guy responsible for slapping the "Made in the USA" sticker on the vote.

It took all of us, Rahm. You're nothing but a glory hog.

5. Not like the Trib isn't trying to puff up a homeboy.
I suspect that these stories are meant to sow suspicion and ugliness within the Party. I really hope all of the key players can check their egos and find common ground.

6. I've never even heard of this guy before a couple days ago
and I'd bet a lot of others hadn't either. So all of a sudden, HE'S the reason we won.

Bullshit.

7. Rahm Emmanuel "remade" the Democratic Party?
That's like saying the guy who works at the car wash "made" the Lamborghini that rolled through last summer.

8. Before people line up to piss on Emanuel...
Oops. Too late. :eyes:

It's the Chicago Tribune, after all. It's their angle on selling a local story. And after reading the article, I believe the OP misrepresents that angle. Emanuel is characterized as a harsh taskmaster, but hardly as a single-handed juggernaut. He didn't claim the glory. He pushed and goaded others to glory. That's the job he was given, and the goal he helped achieved.

Like it or not, lots of us admire Dr. Dean and Rep. Emanuel. And I am thrilled to have Rahm on our side.
