'Truth' organization wants GOP 'gays' to come out
Critics says presence undermining values Republicans say they support

The president of Americans for Truth says it's time for the homosexuals in the Republican Party to come out of the closet.

"In recent weeks, homosexual activists have sought to 'out' various high-level GOP staffers and leaders as homosexuals, to highlight their hypocrisy in working for a socially conservative party," said Peter LaBarbera.

"Now we in the pro-family movement are calling for full disclosure for a different reason: because homosexual GOP staff and pro-'gay' policies in the party are undermining the wholesome values Republicans say they support," he said.

In those "recent weeks," U.S. Rep. Mark Foley resigned in disgrace after it was revealed that he exchanged explicit instant messages with a male congressional page, and political pundit Bill Maher accused the head of the Republican National Committee, Ken Mehlman, of being a closet "gay."
LaBarbera also accused Virginia Senate candidate George Allen of refusing to support the family agenda, and by virtue of that handing control of the U.S. Senate to the Democrats by losing to challenger James Webb....

5. Aye
"Now we in the pro-family movement are calling for full disclosure for a different reason: because homosexual GOP staff and pro-'gay' policies in the party are undermining the wholesome values Republicans say they support," he said.

The key words here are the wholesome values Republicans say they support. It's all a bunch of BS, designed primarily to get votes come election time. When it comes down to it, Republicans are every bit as "unwholesome" as anybody else. They're just far less honest about it, which is what gets them into so much hot water.

8. Welcome them?
I dunno if I welcome any Repunk who has to be forced out (e.g., Kolbe is no "family" of mine). If they come out willingly, and exhibit genuine remorse a la Brock, then maybe I might welcome them.

But not with open arms, until they get that elephant-dung stench off their bodies.

And I still retain the right to shame them to the point of them wishing they'd never been born.

P.S. Hey, LaBarbera, you hateful putz! Thanks for taking some of the load off Aravosis and Rogers -- and me. It's going to be a lot easier to track the hypocrites with you doing all the leg work.

10. I'm with you
Just because someone is gay doesn't mean I would welcome them to the Democratic Party with open arms. How many people here actually visit the website of the Log Cabin Republicans to see what they stand for? Just because that wealthy white boys' club is gay doesn't mean they don't support the war against Iraq. It doesn't mean they support reproductive rights or a livable minimum wage. It doesn't mean they support a repeal of tax cuts for the rich or a moral health care system for the nation. Gay or not, they fully support the Republican platform, often in diametric opposition to those democratic principles we hold dear.

They made their closet. Let them rot in it.

11. OH I get it now!! Gee thanks Petey!!
It wasn't the debacle in Iraq you cheered on, while calling those who opposed it traitors and friends of Al-Queada. It wasn't an economy that burdens the middle class and leaves the poor with little hope for advancement, while the wealthy skate. It wasn't the cheap tricks, the voter suppression, the constant invocation of fear, nor the profiteering and corruption both here and abroad on a massive scale.

It were them durned gayfolk. I shoulda known better :sarcasm:

Petey, you're one sorry little man.

The funny part is, you expect me to believe that NOBODY knew about Haggard, Foley, and Hillary Swank's stunt double (THANK YOU STEPHANIE MILLER) being who they were and applying pressure within your party to get anyone (like you, at least now it seems) who had issues with that to shut their fat yaps and go along with it.
