Feingold will not seek '08 Presidential nomination |
|
Dear Friends and Supporters,
On Sunday, November 12th in Racine, I will hold my 1000th Listening Session with the people of Wisconsin. Before reaching that milestone, I want you to know that I've decided to continue my role as Wisconsin's Junior Senator in the U.S. Senate and not to seek the Democratic nomination for President in 2008.
...
(very bad news in my inbox)

I'm not all that impressed with a majority of the people supposedly running in '08 and the ones I do like, such as John Edwards, I feel have little chance of winning the nomination.

You get to keep a great senator, and that's a good thing.

5. He'd be so good to have in the debates. |

Dammit, Hillary has the ca$h. If she gets the nomination, there goes the chance to get money out of politics and the restoration of democracy. I wouldn't be surprised if she back-pocket vetoes any reform sent up to a Hillary Whitehouse. I had such hope for her.
Rupert Murdoch donates to her!:puke: I'd rather earn money in an honest manner, say -prostitution...;-)

i sure hope so
he's married now right? i mean, this IS 'merica. A female or black President is extremely risky, even a single man or a non-churchgoer is less likely.

Post number 6 is asking post number 4 if DK is married now, because post number 4 asks about Kucinich.

13. Aaah, I thought it was referring to Russ . |

Big Sigh of Relief. And please do feel free to let the good Senator from Wisconsin know that this UW Grad and former constituent would be more than happy to marry him to belay any potential "scandal" due to him being single. ;)

He wasn't my first choice for nominee, but he would have been an extremely important voice in the dialogue that is the presidential primary.
I fear that we're going to end up with a bunch of bland centrists and conservatives trying to be as inoffensive and non-controversial as possible. Russ certainly would not have let other candidates get away with that unchallenged.
He must feel that he will be a much more powerful voice in the Senate now, and I am happy about that.
