A sincere in house thank you for DU feedback
DU'ers,

I recently started participating in this site, and I'm still getting my sea legs -- specifically, the mixing it up responses to my submissions.

Most of it has been civilized and some of it has been poisonous, but ALL of it has been instructive! For example I recently goofed in a piece in which I should have been talking about the DLC instead of the DNC. Sorry for that acronym confusion, but thanks to your feedback, I now have it straight and I have you folks to thank for it.

Relatedly, I'm learning how important it is the "define your terms" and that metaphors can be variously interpreted, e.g., when I speak of a political revolution, that doesn't mean I'm a Marxist (which I'm not). So images and metaphors may be the life blood of poetry, but I'm learning that they need a little explaining in political/social commentary.

Mostly, your feedback is challenging me to (try to) write more clearly, and whether its hand shaking or rock throwing, I keep learning from your feedback.

It's nice to be agreed with, but it's also terribly helpful to be challenged and it seems like we all get big doeses of both on this site and I think that's win/win for us all.

cheers, wcproteus

3. Welcome !
It gets a bit heated in here when our passions take precedence over manners ... but most of us are sincere and adamant in moving this country forward out of this mess.

13. Welcome to DU, wcelper!
:hi:

One thing about DU, you need to have all your ducks in a row before you say/post anything because inevitably someone will catch an error and point it out. Use spell check often and always, always provide articles and links to CREDIBLE sources to back up what you post.:)

Glad you're here and learning!:hi:

14. I'm learning
I can dig it. AND what I'm learning is valuable. A lot of what's happening with me is (like all other DUers) is that I've got a complicated life outside these submissions, so I tend to write things on the run, and that doesn't alway work. Maybe less is better. Anyway, thanks.
