Serious questions about 2008 and beyond:
2008: We have the House, the Senate and the Presidency.. won't that be creating the way for the same 'rubber stamp' governance that we are experiencing now with the Republicants?

I don't believe that the Dems are as innately corrupt as our current government, but, like the Republicants 12 years ago, the Dems are going to Washington to change things. Will history repeat itself ? If absolute power corrupts absolutely, how can we assure that similar abuses won't occur with complete Dem control of all three branches of government?

Frankly, I will feel a lot safer with Dems in control, but unfortunately, there -has- been evidence of corrupt Dems in the past and the idea of a RW Tsunami in '12 gives me major squeems.

1. Hopefully we here and other bloggers
will remain vigilant in observing and routing out corruption... DEMs or Republicans. Personally, I hope that we may be able to reestablish the constitution and rules governing behaviors in Congress so well that it will be 'ok' to have a slightly Republican Senate or House again if we win the presidency. There is a lot to do to rectify the damage of the last 12 years... and I am not advocating any easing of liberal focus. My hope is that we will get our govt back and that we may again have the strength to enjoy a diversity of both liberal and conservative ideas that truly reflect the voting public.

4. I agree about the bloggers
I absolutely believe that the voices heard on this site and others like it made an enormous difference in this election. So yeah, that is an excellent point

2. The Dems have NEVER been as corrupt as this set of RepubliCONs
There is no comparison between Dem scandals and Neocon Repub scandas. But Americans have short memories and will believe whatever the tv tells them. Even though we won the Congress, the Repugs still control the media. So the Dems need to work on media reform asap. We have to be ready to fight back because we will be attacked six ways to Sunday from now until '08, every step of the way. They will fabricate smears and corruption out of whole cloth.

5. I wasn't implying anything like that
I guess my point is that we need to stay vigilent no matter who is in control of the government. No more complacency.
