Wax likeness of Bush attacked in Vegas day before election
Las Vegas-Review Journal: Nov. 12, 2006
Norm Clarke: Waxworks visitor casts vote early

President Bush's wax likeness is taking a thumpin' these days at Madame Tussaud's celebrity waxworks in Las Vegas.

Bush's head suffered about $25,000 in damages when a Madame Tussaud's visitor attacked it the day before last week's elections.

"No one's pushed one over before," said Jack Taylor, spokesman for the tourist attraction.

Bush has needed repairs a number of times, mostly from having his nose pinched, Taylor added.

"This was the most damage" to one of the wax figures, he said. "People are always touching them, but this was pretty rare."

The wax creations, ranging from John F. Kennedy to George Clooney to porn star Jenna Jameson, cost between $200,000 and $250,000 to produce.

The back of Bush's head was damaged in the fall, "but he's been back on his feet for several days now," Taylor said.

2. That was just plain f**king stupid...
... Vandalism of any kind is detrimental to society in any form...

Better they harness that rage and put it to better use. I hope they are able to arrest those responsible and prosecute them.

13. No...
I mean like an illegal act of vandalism...

If * were removed from office, I would hope that the place would remove it themselves...

I doubt that this was a true political statement. A sign saying "power to the people" would have made more sense, and would not cost anything for the owners of the place to fix it, which they obviously will.

I seriously doubt that the owners of the museum were making a political statement by having the statue there.

That would be like throwing a rock through the window of an art gallery because there was a portrait of * that would be damaged if they did it.

It just made no sense.

22. Why would they remove it?
They have Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Napoleon, Ivan the Terrible, Lizzie Borden. If he were tried for war crimes, they might move it to a different room. :)

4. Uhm.. A quarter of a million dollars for a wax Bush statue?
Anyone else find that hilarious? The real Bush isn't worth nearly that much.

I'll bet it ends up there eventually, along with the other torturers and tortured figures.

even a likeness of bush but you've got to wonder whether someone of magical inclinations was behind this.

Hmmmmmmm. . .

At least they didn't melt him down, unlike what his white phosphorous did to the sleeping residents of Falluja two years ago.

Ughhhhh.

So it doesn't appear that anyone was apprehended. . .?

I'd imagine they'd have cameras in such places.

Because yelling at a robot in public is the closest we're ever likely to get to being able to do it to the real Bubbly Boy:

See:

I should not be the only one to boo Bush in Disney's Hall of Presidents
