DU straw poll #4: Results
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 04:04 PM by smoogatz
Here are the results of the DU '08 presidential straw poll I posted last night:

A total of 243 votes have been cast so far. As in the first three polls (6/4/06, 6/25/06 and 8/2/06) DU loves Al Gore, who registered a whopping 116 votes or 48% of the total (compared with 45%, 34%, and 45% in the previous polls). Second place, as usual, belongs to Wes Clark, with 57 votes/23% (28%, 28%, 14%). Edwards received a respectable 24 votes/10%, and Russ Feingold finished fourth with 18/7%, despite his announcement yesterday that he's out of the Presidential race. The also-rans are, in order, Kerry with 9/4% (in line with his previous performances of 6%, 5% and 6%), Hillary Clinton (8/3%), new-to-the-poll Barack Obama (6/2%), and the hardly worth mentioning Richardson, Biden and Vilsack. The only surprise for me was Obama's relatively weak showing--my guess is that DUers either don't know much about him yet, or else they view him as a denizen of the squishy center, a territory they distrust. Also worth noting is the fact that Kerry has barely made a ripple in any of the four polls, despite his very vocal following here.

Poll result (243 votes)
Joe Biden (2 votes, 1%)
Wes Clark (57 votes, 23%)
Hillary Clinton (8 votes, 3%)
John Edwards (24 votes, 10%)
Russ Feingold (18 votes, 7%)
Al Gore (116 votes, 48%)
John Kerry (9 votes, 4%)
Barack Obama (6 votes, 2%)
Bill Richardson (3 votes, 1%)
Tom Vilsack (0 votes, 0%)

Here's the poll:

5. Next month I'll drop Feingold and probably add Kucinich
or Al Sharpton, or re-include Bayh, who I dropped this time around because he'd never gotten more than 2 or 3 votes in my earlier polls. As others announce, I'll probably drop the low vote-getters to include them.
