Here are the results of the DU '08 presidential straw poll I posted last night:
A total of 243 votes have been cast so far. As in the first three polls (6/4/06, 6/25/06 and 8/2/06) DU loves Al Gore, who registered a whopping 116 votes or 48% of the total (compared with 45%, 34%, and 45% in the previous polls). Second place, as usual, belongs to Wes Clark, with 57 votes/23% (28%, 28%, 14%). Edwards received a respectable 24 votes/10%, and Russ Feingold finished fourth with 18/7%, despite his announcement yesterday that he's out of the Presidential race. The also-rans are, in order, Kerry with 9/4% (in line with his previous performances of 6%, 5% and 6%), Hillary Clinton (8/3%), new-to-the-poll Barack Obama (6/2%), and the hardly worth mentioning Richardson, Biden and Vilsack. The only surprise for me was Obama's relatively weak showing--my guess is that DUers either don't know much about him yet, or else they view him as a denizen of the squishy center, a territory they distrust. Also worth noting is the fact that Kerry has barely made a ripple in any of the four polls, despite his very vocal following here.
