1. Jesus Christ. Why can't anyone be concerned with whether or not...
... it's the RIGHT thing to do? The *obligatory* thing to do?

Is Feingold *really* the only person in America that cares about such concepts?

5. lol!

EDIT: My concern would also not be addressed by the existence of another poll. Your ability to fail to engage a concern is legion.

7. I'm not here to engage your concern. I posted the polls I wanted.
Deal.

9. Ah - *that's* where I erred. I was silly enough to think that....
... your two suggestions to me were attempts to engage my concern. In fact, apparently, they were apropos of nothing.

My apologies.

11. :) You'll always be solid in my book, if for no other reason than...
... your inebriated request to the mods for a pet freeper. That redefined the word "classic".

12. I do think we deserve a pet. After all we've been through a pet freeper
would be a just dessert!

I hear they shit a lot from both holes. But, I won't do potty duty. I'd feed it but I won't scoop up behind it.

I want you to know I was just jokin with ya earlier.

I wasn't tryin to create some mega suma cum laude masters degree poll in all the concerns behind impeachment.

I wanted to see where peoples heads were at on the issue. I want to see @ a glance where DUers were on whether or not impeachment was the right thing from a strategic perspective and from a democracy perspective.

I don't have all the answers and I'm just about to say I really don't give a shit.

My only concern is we'll fuck this up. Then I'll really have to move to Canada cuz our strategy wasn't smart. I don't want to give the Rethuglicans an opportunity to take the executive, legislative and judicial branches.

Whatever we can do to prevent the Rethugs from owning the government again I'm willing to do even if it is foregoing impeachment.

If we impeach and it goes wrong and it is categorised as evil revenge we'll never get the opportunity again. EVER.

So just know I rarely ever get mad here on DU @ other DUers. 99.9 percent of my snarky remarks are said with a comedic voice.

:hugs:

15. It's not the freaking RIGHT thing to do. Our country is counting on
us, and so many of us are caught up in vengeance.

Considering the circumstances, it is the WRONG thing to do.

6. No. There is evidence to support an impeachment of Bush, but not Cheney.
This is according to Elizabeth Holtzman, who has written a book on impeaching Bush, amazingly titled "The Impeachment of George W. Bush." Holtzman was on the Watergate Committee, and was asked this specific question about Cheney on a Democracy Now appearance this past week.

8. Cheney is who I'd go after first. I'd hold investigations. Get the data
then after their term is over FUCK THEM UP.

13. Impeachment is the ONLY "smart move" for Democrats (and inevitable)
Bottom line: recent Newsweek poll - 51% think it's important. And this is BEFORE investigations have even begun (28% said it's a priority). Avoidance of the issue by the Dems would easily alienate enough of their base to assure big loses in '08 (You simply can't claim "honest government" and avoid this "elephant in the room" of executive office corruption).

No worries tho, Waxman has already promised wide-ranging investigations (so much wrong-doing he doesn't no where to start ;) ). So, the impeachment will follow naturally, with public awareness of the extent of the Bush wrong-doing and consequent support of the proceedings.

The end result: The Dems will gain much <deserved> respect for their courage and honesty, and make even greater gains in '08.

Like I said, it's the ONLY smart move - they simply have no choice, but will benefit greatly from it.

21. Such AS??!!!
"BETTER THINGS TO DO"??!!

Such as???!!

I agree that there are MANY THINGS TO DO!

Like raising the minimum wage and providing affordable health care for ALL and getting taxes right.

BUT THOSE ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE ISSUE OF JUSTICE!!!!

We currently have in the White House a MASS MURDERER -- WHO LIED IN ORDER TO TAKE US TO WAR WHERE THOUSANDS, if not MILLIONS of people have died UNNECESSARILY!!!

DECENT PEOPLE do NOT let murderers get away with their VILE CRIMES!!

NEITHER SHOULD WE!!!
