Some DUers make me think of this:
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 05:54 PM by Botany

I want impeachment now! (even though we don't have the votes)

Harry Reid didn't say everything I wanted him too.

Nancy Pelosi doesn't sound mean enough.

I am so mad that we took both the House & Senate so that bush
had to invite the democratic leadership to the White House.
How come they didn't leave a flaming bag of poop on the door step
and ring the bell and run away.

Who will run as the party's choice in '08? It better not be ____________ (fill in the
blank) he/she can't win.

Please chill out. We had a great national victory and things are going our way.
Step back and be happy for once. The Investigations will come along soon
enough.

Some people just can't be happy. unbearable!

@ least one person agrees with me.

We get the House, the Senate, Rummy's head, Bolton's a goner, Mehlman is toast,
investigative powers into bush/cheney, and made Rove look like a fool yet people
complain.

Reminds of date years ago .... Fly out to Utah to ski and all she did was complain
that our hotel room's view of Park City could have better.

You're claiming that Bush is one of the, if not the worse abuser of human rights in the history of the world. That's hyperbole. It's doubtful he's even in the top 10. Even if you limited it to the 20th century and onward, he'd be remarkably low on the list. He's bad, there's no doubt about that, but you overstate the case, which only ends up making you look the fool and weakening your argument.

I noticed that comment of yours too, but this is HILARIOUS for a response in reply to anyone saying, yeah Bush is pretty damn bad but the WORST is a bit extreme, and so you simplify it to being JUST as bad as Hitler because Bush is a murderer for sending those boys off to their deaths and being in charge while 100's of thousands die in Iraq and Bush lies ALL the time...

YOU GET A HUGE WTG FOR THE COMEBACK, IT'S PRETTY DAMN BRILLIANT.

Kerry gets attacked almost destroying his chances at a presidential run (he's the one with the goods on BCCI and Iran-Contra figures).

Bush I swoops in with his consiglieri to rescue his son and to fill the void left by neocons.

Now its time to play nice and promote bipartisanship because there's a little something in this for every congressperson who plays along.

But personally, I prefer this response to last week's victories; it's time to get to work. It's time to clean house, sweep out corruption, and wipe out those insidious corporate germs:

41. Not really. Those who want impeachment now forget that investigations
and hearings will be held regardless. I think that they forget that and think since we aren't going to draft articles of impeachment we won't investigate either.

I think the impeachment now crowd forgets that we'll be investigating regardless.

61. And who will care if you have investigations without remedy?
That won't insure democratic victory in 08. Some will assume they did nothing wrong. I support the constitution. I consider it and my freedom and that of my children as unconditional. I don't make nice with rattle snakes or carry knives to a gun fight.

to even win an impeachment vote in the house.

76. no, at least not in my case...
I fully support deep investigations, but I think the only way we'll get them is if the people demand impeachment. I can understand our leadership playing along with the administration until they are forced by the people to take stronger action. What I can't stand are those who want to compromise because they feel the crimes of the administration "just ain't that bad".

50. It's Not What To Do, It's Where To Start
There's lots of evaluating we have to do here. Six years of one party control, 12 years of one party domination of the legislative. While we can suspect and put pieces together about a lot of crimes committed by this regime, we've still been in the political "woodshed" and are walking into a messy Congress.

Rest assured 2007 will not be a great year for members of the boooosh cabal...or the Repugnican party. Several investigation are ongoing, others are ramping up...and now some that have been stonewalled can be truly allowed to run its course. I want justice and know it takes time...but I want that justice to be fair, just and overwhelming. Give Henry Waxman and Russ Feingold to spend a time to dig in with their newly vested subpoena power and then let's see what they find and how people feel.

Impeachment isn't as important as clearing out all the criminality that occured during this regime's regin of terror. If anything it would be a distraction...extracting political for true justice...something the one would hope Democrats wouldn't emulate the Repugnican's tactics.

I'd far prefer to pick off regime members one by one with their own slime and corruption...and further isolate the lame duck manchild and make his crumbling party. The game here is to win bigger in '08 and get 4 years, not 2 to really work to enact change. The key to that is working on positive legislation...things that will help the middle class and make a contrast over the oligarchy that ran the country. Play the cards right and Democrats can remain the majority party for the next generation.

51. Thanks, Botany!!!
I am as happy as I can be. I am savoring our victory.

We'll have investigations and expose the criminals who are occupying the White House right now. I am not worried about it.

Right now, I'd like to the Democrats to focus mainly on getting the business of the People done. We'll have to win in 2008 again and I want to have another Democratic victory. We have to show that we have great plans for the future. If we spend ALL of our time investigating everything, instead of improving minimum wage, health care, social security, immigration, and social justice, we'll regret it.

As much as I want those criminals punished, the long-term goal of making America better for all of us is way more important to me. Bush and his Administration is essentially castrated. He is not just a lame duck, he is a duck without wings and legs. We'll work on undoing the harm he has caused to the Constitution while focusing on improving the lives of all of us.

96. just buy a new shirt .
i did on tuesday, a beautiful dark blue cotton but with a sheen to it, at the local thrift shop. Just had come away from voting and was looking for some acknowledgement. Spotted the shirt, it was new, and a perfect fit :)

stuck my 'i voted' sticker on it, and have worn it 4 out of 5 days at work and got many compliments on it. (yeah, i washed it, and kept on wearing it).

when it's noticed, i just reply 'it's a good time to be BLUE!'

major agreements in return,

97. This precocious "wunderkind"...
...needs to read the Constitution, or have one of the "adults" in her life read it to her.

I have been reading, very thoroughly and very consistently, the many threads here at DU about impeachment, and have posted in many of them. It's my sincere opinion that you do a grave injustice to the thoughtful exchange that has taken place on this issue with this mocking of what concerned and informed people are discussing.

No one is screaming for impeachment NOW. The new Congress must be seated in January before this serious question can be taken up. However, many of us are quite concerned over Nancy Pelosi's unitary decision to take impeachment off the table. It is not her right to make that decision under the Constitution. It could be reasonably argued that making references to "the Constitution" is a fool's mission, since GW has referred to it as "just a god damned piece of paper." However, We the People must go forward with the assumption that the threats to that hallowed document are not permanent -- not, that is, if we urge our leaders to do their duty under the Constitution.

Not knowing in advance (not having the votes) whether a conviction will take place is not a reason not to hold criminals in this administration to account, and impeachment is the prescribed method for doing that, under the Constitution. Impeachment is the process of getting on the record the activities of a rogue executive and other members of the administration. Clinton was *impeached*, but he was not convicted.

However, let me not be guilty of making any kind of serious comparison between the Clinton impeachment (which was an illegal farce), and holding to account the Bush administration for their many crimes against our country, and the world, through impeachment.

Truthout.com today makes the point that I have been making since November 7:

FOCUS | Truthout: Impeachment and the Table http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/111306Z.shtml
Truthout believes that by stating flatly that "impeachment is off the table," incoming Speaker Pelosi and incoming Chairman Conyers appear to have erred rather substantially. Impeachment, of course, is a matter of Constitutional law, not personal discretion on the part of individual lawmakers. The pre-emptive nature of the decision by Pelosi and Conyers stands in sharp contrast to every principal of law enforcement. Congress - whether controlled by Democrats or Republicans - has a solemn duty to uphold and when necessary enforce the law.

Very truly yours,

Judy Barrett, Citizen
United States of America
