I'm going to. I don't want to micro-manage Nancy Pelosi or John Conyers- at least not yet. I'm going to have faith in them to do the right things. I don't want to harangue them. I don't want to be their consciences- at least not yet.
I'm going to have a little faith. Yes, there are things I'd like them to do and not do, but I won't be flooding their offices with e-mails or signing petitions- at least not yet.
I'm going to give them some time, and give them some trust. That's why this election was so important to me; I wanted to see these people in power and heading committees.
I'll let them take office and get a few months under their belts, and then we'll see how they're doing, but for now I'm going to have a little faith.
I've earned it.
So have you.

2. I am very willing to give the Dems a chance to show what they can do. |

Seems some folks already have their boots positioned to plant in the backsides of Pelosi, Conyers, et al. I'm not. Pelosi has her 100 hour plan, which I like. It seems to me that she is not sitting back and relaxing in her Armani suit, waiting for January 2007 to get here. Nor are the other Dems just waiting for January. They are working and figuring things out, etc. I want to see how they do out of the gate. If it appears that nothing is being done after a couple of months, then I will spit out emails, make calls, write letters, etc. But I'm not in the frame of mind that I should jump all over them before they are even in office. I'll be watching them, for sure. But I, too, am willing to have some faith in them, that they will take action, they will work toward making some much needed changes. If they prove unworthy of that faith, then I'll start to pressure them, but I believe in giving people a chance to show what they are about, before making judgments about them.

It may not be very activist or whatever, but knowing when to sit still and when not to sit still, as Eliot said, is a good thing.

Sometimes sitting still is a good thing. I know that when I start a new job or new position, the last thing I would want or need is to have a cacophony of voices yelling at me to do this, do that. I'd rather be given a little bit of time to SHOW what I can do.

Anyway, there is no doubt lots of stuff going on that we have no clue about. I think we're too far away from events to be trying to call the shots. I trust Conyers, among others. Pelosi has yet to prove herself to me, but...

6. I can promise you one thing for sure, I'm not going to toss 'em under a bus before they even begin |

I am more than willing to wait and see if they do me proud. This is what I've wanted for such a long time, and I am more than willing to keep my faith in them for a while longer.
