Last but certainly not least, check out the way Skinner stood up and simply said no, when the federal government wanted ALL transcripts and information EVER posted at DU. It's one thing for gigantic multinational Goggle to protect subscribers, it's quite another for Skinner to hang tough. The phone companies handed complete personal information right over to them.

If John Kerry or even my hero, Dr. Dean lets us down, Skinner and DU will be here for you. I know, many of you, like me, already donated but it's time to re-up. Like I said, you know me. 20. You're right - and I really wish I could, since I think I'll be losing my star very soon...

Unfortunately, I've been unemployed since I was laid off 2 days after the 04 (mis)selection. Last year I was able to give because of a money gift from a relative, but this year if I get any money it will HAVE to go for bills. I'm in school thru the trade retraining act (getting a paralegal degree) and I've got one semester left. They tell me I can get a job next semester and they won't make me repay my tuition and books fees, I'll just lose my unemployment check. Hey, my unemployment is less than $100 a week, so even a part-time job will be better than that! So I'll be looking for a job right after the first of the year. I really need a regular paycheck again - we've just about cleaned out our savings, and I've got dogs to feed (LOL)! I'll really miss my star when it disappears, but ce la vie, que sera sera, and all that.

If you want to know just how much I hate The Decider and his evil minions - I've been laid off 3 times since Xmas 2000, and my husband's been laid off once. We're now making LESS THAN HALF what we were making when he took the oath of office.

So, my giving will have to wait. When I get back to work and a bit more stable financially, I'm going to be generous, because I KNOW how valuable DU is to me. I don't know what I'd have done these years without DU keeping me sane with the knowledge that I haven't been alone!

I usually don't talk about my personal situation this graphically, but if anyone is on the fence about giving, and you're reading this - please donate if you can! You'll enjoy your star, and it is SO worth it!
