but I remember the whole area being so "back in the dark ages." I lived in Oak Grove for about 6 years, and remember my ex-father-in-law dressing up in his red and white Klan robes to portray Santa Clause for the tribe of children one Christmas,( the kids didn't know the difference, just say a big, fat man dressed in beard and red and white, with bag of gifts)....I became violently ill.

I haven't been to Monroe in maybe 40 years or so.(Lived much of my life in New Orleans).
Anyway, I'd go on business trips with my mom and dad, and while in Monroe, I think we stayed in a hotel next door to or nearby the jail. While we were in the hotel, I think there were "famous" wrestlers staying there, too. "Gorgeous George" comes to mind.

It's because we don't possess it ourselves and so infrequently encounter these views in our lives. This type of hatred exists, but it is rare or at least hidden for the most part, even from other whites. In my earlier post to this thread I actually said I was shocked so I am speaking for myself now.

It's not a common sentiment in my opinion so it is shocking to see. It's not that we deny the existence of racism, it is just still shocking that it persists. That there are still ignorant asses out there that believe this shit.

I am assuming that you are a target of this type of hatred and so it would be more obvious to you. The racist assholes tend to express their hatred to targets rather than the white people that they encounter casually. Casually, as opposed to someone they know agrees with them. So yah, this blatant in your face public hatred is shocking since it is often very hidden with code words etc or just projected into hate crimes.

This appears to be printed on a chuch sign too. Isn't blatant racism on a church sign unusual? Wouldn't someone be very surprised to see it considering how unusual it is?
Or is this more than you want to think about when you really just want to generalize and make fun of white people?
