1. That's Just Offensive
I'm getting mighty tired of all the Joe Lieberman bashing here.
I am no fan of his, but this just goes too far.

7. The Wizard of Whimsy created this but I agree.
I really don't appreciate the pandering Joe does to the religiosos in the Republican party and the insurance companies, pharma companies that give money to his campaign.

If Joe saw no penalty for privatizing social security and medicare he would vote for it. I do not trust him. Oh and I'm Jewish and Joe doesn't act like most Jewish Democrats I have seen or read about.

I do not believe in full bipartisanship. Would you want a police officer to pander to a criminal enterprise? Some police officers appear crooked and I see that about Holy Joe who would sell out the poor if he could. After all he voted for that crummy prescription drug law that has not helped the middle class.

So on economic and cultural reasons and the war I don't trust Holy Joe and the Republican public put him back into office. Thy should have a sore losers law in every state in that if you lose a primary in your party, you can't cut and run from your party and then run as an independent and get cut and run Republican voters to vote for you.

If the Republiklan congress had held power I suspect we would head on to another depression. Holy Joe should not consort with the privatizers.

The government has a role in economic justice, health care, defense, oil and gas.

Leave making of jewelry, pizza pies, swimming pools, etc. to the private sector. This way some companies in the private sector will not destroy our country and make paupers of the middle class.

8. Ok - Let's Insult Joe Until Reps Have Senate
let's just insult Joe, not make any concessions to him. He'll make the official switch to the Republican party, giving them control of the Senate, majorities on all the committees and the committe chairmanships. They will decide what issues are brought to the floor for debate. And, we, the Dems can cling to our ideals as the minority party, just like we've been for the past four years. But hey, at least we'll have our principles.

Do I trust Joe Lieberman? No. Do I think his running as an Independent after losing the party primary was the right thing to do. No. Am I willing to put that behind me for the good of my party and country? Yes.

Right now, we need Joe Lieberman more than he needs us. We may not like it, but that's the way it is.

17. "Clinging to ideals"
is a part of what makes us different and BETTER than the repubs. Lieberman wouldn't dare cross the aisle. He knows where he belongs and while I'm not suggesting he be given any important committee assignments, he shouldn't be entirely left out in the cold either. He needs to do a lot of penance to get back in the good graces of the Party. Somebody should remind him that Benedict Arnold came from Conneticutt as well, and he will be kept on a very short leash!

I don't buy this "we need him more than he needs us" crap, the repubs won't give him the time of day because he used to have principles and they have no idea what they are but fear them just the same.

11. Amen.
So on economic and cultural reasons and the war I don't trust Holy Joe and the Republican public put him back into office. Thy should have a sore losers law in every state in that if you lose a primary in your party, you can't cut and run from your party and then run as an independent and get cut and run Republican voters to vote for you.

Why isn't there such a rule? It'd stop people from pulling stunts like Lieberman did here, Bill Bazley did in the '86 AL gubernatorial election, and LaRouche does every presidential election. If you participate in the primary process and lose, that's it, you shouldn't be in the general election.

He could've flipped before filing and ran in the Republican primary and won just as easily, but he didn't do that because he'd lose his seniority. The same goes for getting signatures and qualifying as an independent before losing the primary. But he didn't do that, and there should have been consequences for losing.

13. Oh, BOO-HOO
"offensive"?

Fuck him, he is another self serving megalomaniac.
He doesn't care that he owes the repukes for getting him elected.
They bought him and he will pay off.

Yeah, lets treat joe like a king...he knew what he was doing.
Now he has some kissing his ass for his vote...just as a megalomaniac likes it to be.

Sorry, he betrayed his party and his constituents, he doesn't get a pass from me.

19. only four of those look winnable
Mn, Me, Or, and NH

but I guess we did win in Montana and Virginia this time - quite surprising. But we lost in Ct and Tn

Supposedly Roberts is a moderate and popular here. He ran unopposed in 2002. I guarantee he will not run unopposed this time, but get beat? I very highly doubt it, unless Morrison wants to try him, but in my eyes Morrison is still a Republican anyway.

15. uhh, rather he goes Republican all the way???
He could ya know!

I bashed the snot bubbles out of him in the primaries and election. But I'm a pragmatist when the change I wanted to effect didn't happen.

He's in now. Lets not chase him to the enemy all the way. He wants a committee. We want a non-Republican. His war is toast anyway.

20. I am tired of being nice and kissing up to evil. He is blackmailing
us and we need to stand up to it.

He would be very stupid to switch to a losing side right now.
He is just playing us for fools.
