When we leave Iraq there'll be no chance left for Bush to 'fix' it. The failure will stick
That's why he wants to keep the ball in the air until he leaves. He may settle for pulling out now and blaming the resulting chaos on the new Democratis majority, but it's clear that he's keeping our troops bogged down there now to keep from recieving the ultimate blame, without any of the phony pretense he uses to try to make it look like he's in the process of 'winning'.

1. Well, he did say that Iraq will be the next president's issue to deal with. So your thoughts
sound just about right. He wants to wait it out, even if it means a thousand more dead before he leaves office.

So very sad...
