Man arrested in fake anthrax attacks an avid free republic poster
arrest story here

(AP) LOS ANGELES A man was arrested and accused of mailing threatening letters laced with white powder to Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, David Letterman and other high-profile figures, the FBI announced Sunday.

FBI agents took Chad Conrad Castagana, 39, into custody Saturday on charges of conveying false information and sending threats via the U.S. mail, the bureau said in a statement.

Ok how do I know this, first I searched for Chad Castagana and found many posts using the same expression on the same topic.

SF Has No Space for PC

W ith the passing away of Lexx ends an intriguing albeit smarmy experiment in sci-fantasy. One that breaks with conventions, or should I say, cliches of TV sci-fi of the '90s. The politically correct pabulum, the multicultural indoctrination, the Bladerunner motifs, and not the least—the steroid mutated superbabes that can punch the lights out of men, but never get punched back in return!?

How about creating a new sci-fi anthology with none of the puerile baggage of Rod Serling, Gene Roddenberry, Rockne O' Bannon, etc., etc. It is time to end their reign of Left-wing innuendo, their anti-American, anti-mankind cynicism and fatalism.

...

The future is not the current events of our world thrown into outer space. The future is not with the Liberals, not with the Multiculturalists (both hate America), and it is certainly not to be found in Canada! The future is not written, the future is unformed.

Chad Castagana

Notice the phase "The future is not with the Liberals, not with the Multiculturalists (both hate America)" He uses this phase often in reference to the scifi show Lexx. So I searched for it on freerepublic and found...

Let us create a future of infinite possibilities devoid of the agenda of the social engineers who work their corruption on us thru the one way world of television . A world where anything is possible , but not everything is possible . Anything can happen , but not all things can happen at once . That is what 'Time' is for , to keep all things from happening at the same moment . That shall be the only rule of our new fantasy world . That an event happens only once . What has been done , cannot be undone . There is no turning back the sands of time . You can review the past but you cannot change the past . That a vision of a possible future - to the present , must be taken in the context of the present . A Cosmos not governed by compassion or tolerance or equality , but common sense and merit . A Universe of strange and totally new lifeforms and not distorted reflections of human characters , just to make some social allegory ---- THAT is the insipid barren road of Political Correctness that Sci-fi entertainment has been a slave to for so many years . Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 11:31 AM by Ms. Clio
He traced the FReak's use of a specific, distinctive phrase, and found him using it under both his own name and his handle at the Repuglick.

Further examination of his posts under several different names strongly indicates that they are all the work of the same seriously-disturbed individual.

On edit: I would add that this is an established technique that has been used to "out" the author of at least one anonymously-published book.

383. A few years ago
when Bush made his plastic turkey trip to Iraq, news of the visit was posted at FR either before the President landed, or immediately afterward, I forget which. Either way, it was hours before the media was permitted to release the news of Bush's courageous visit, to serve fake food to prescreened soldiers while their comrades were forced to eat MREs because security prevented them from getting anywhere near the mess hall for Thanksgiving dinner.

I often wondered if the Secret Service was ok with the security breach, and if so, why. Didn't they care about the President' or was it possible that they didn't know. It's hard to believe that the leak was approved.

I were a terrorist or someone who was trying to catch terrorists, I'd hang out at Free Republic rather than any liberal blog. We don't know any government secrets and wouldn't be stupid enough to post them if we did (since bad guys might find the information useful). Also, a potential terrorist would be unlikely to find comrades here since the only violence practiced by the left is the circular firing squad.

396. The only way they could spy on you with cookies...
Is if they have other domains with which they can track the cookies. That's how advertising agencies do it. Their ads are used on many domains, but are all referenced to a single domain. You visit two sites that have the same ad company's ads, their ads recognize are able to retrieve the cookie that they've originally sent. (Or such is my understanding anyway. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.) So unless FR has a bunch of other sites where they can have their cookies, I'm skeptical of that assertion.

Any cookies from FR are likely to be related to saving login info. (DU uses them for that as well.)

416. I reject all cookies from all sites, except a minimum needed for login access like DU.
I reject (semi-automatically) all cookies from all sites, except a minimum needed for login access like DU. You can set your browser to reject cookies automatically or request them for OK / deny on a case by case basis. Once denied, they stay denied without bothering you.

DU uses as least seven (7), including one that is committed to last until 2038. I would like DU to clean it up a bit, reduce the number of cookies, and go to "session only" cookies if possible.

Sites with ads tend to use cookies from 2o7.com, but it doesn't matter what the domain name, they can all be cross-correlated via "business partnership agreements", etc.

:wtf:
IIRC, an associates degree, Arts or Sciences, only says you've taken basic 100 and 200 level college courses...various maths, English, Psych, Biology, History, Chemistry...basic stuff.
A.A., or A.S. depends on whether you took more science than liberal arts.
You don't get into the specializing or serious stuff...your major and minor...until you hit the 300 and above...
at least that's the way it worked back when I was in college...

140. Yeah, actually you can
All the community colleges in this area offer A.S. degrees in electronics.

When you graduate, you have three career paths open to you: assembling electronic devices, fixing traffic signals, or servicing public safety radios. (In the old days before cheap Chinese imports came into vogue, most ASETs fixed televisions.)

Those are good jobs, but apparently the freeper doesn't want to admit he installs police radios for a living--or at least he did before he decided to become a terrorist.

249. That's possible too
Do those schools call the certificate you receive an Associates degree? I didn't think they did--if you go to Fayettenam Tech to study Police Radio Repair, you can take the courses on fixing police radios and get a Certificate, or the 100/200-level liberal arts courses as well as the police radio repair classes and get an AS.

However...I think if we really worked hard on chasing down this clown's employment, we'd find he installs car stereos at Circuit City.

177. I think you are incorrect on the AA vs AS thing...
An AA degree is the first two years of a BS or BA degree. If one receives an AS degree the classes are more technical in nature and those classes don't typically transfer to the university systems for a BS or BA. This comes from someone who received an AA degree from a community college and went on to finish a BS degree at the university level.

There are many degrees (AAs and ASs) that don't transfer, but you can get an AS in biology and transfer into a biology major at a 4-year school. I went spent my last two years of high school at a community college. My AS transferred.

I am not a citizen of the State of Florida,
But if I was, I would always vote for Katherine Harris .
For her bravery, her perserverance, her grace under fire .
She should be president- not the sellout we have in office now !

Regretably, it is unlikely she will unseat the incumbent-
but this is not the end of our lovely lady- not by far .

Katherine Harris has a lot of friends and admirers - -
lot of fan and defenders - - her strength is in her supporters right here on FreeRepublic .

Whatever happens, we will be here to defend her name against all false witnesses, whether they live in Florida or the National Mass Media, or any stronghold of The 'Crats .

I myself will be among the first to buy her new book

23. He's also a gamer nerd...check this out
looks like he played too much PONG in a room by himself

Chad Castagana (California, USA)
Chcastaga@aol.com

The first game of PONG, or 'Tennis For Two' (the first electronic video game) was realized at Brookhaven Institute . It utilized the laboratory's Giant Analog Computers and Relay Logic to create a, on an Oscilloscope Screen, a game of Tennis For Two(PONG) . . The article from Old-Computers.com said that this game console of Magnavox ODYSSEY had no c.p.u. , does that mean it had not have digital logic chips ? It had game cartridges ? Were they not ROM ? If this was an analog system, then what were the game cartridges made of ? Was the game system a hybrid of digital ROM chips and analog video circuitry ? Sincerely, Chad Castagana, USA

Yes it did, but I heard it was a prank Anthrax letter, then it was a harmless powder .

A couple of weeks ago, someone sent the Washington Post such a hoax !

Last September, Keith Olbermann got a threatening letter in his mail which spewed out white powder, Olbermann freaked out :-0

A few days ago someone mailed the Los Angeles Times a letter with powder, which turned out to be a food preservative - - yeah real deadly

That Monosodium Glutamate will kill you every time :-)

Not to make light of the situation, but drama queen Olbermann put on quite a production even after he'd been told the powder was harmless and checked out by doctors and told he was fine. He demanded that he be rushed to the hospital for more tests. I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if he mailed it to himself. I've never seen someone more desperate for attention and approval.

I heard from a liberal blog that Olbermann was a prima donna at the hospital, giving the medical staff and the cops a hard time .

Keith is a whiny little b@tch !

Accepting that, I do not believe he sent it to himself .

But that is just guess work .

Pamela Rogers shoild get some prison time
(she is in jail now) for violating her parole .

The issue here is trust, she cannot be trusted to keep away from this teenage boy .

Beyond that, she is a nitwit !
She displays an almost juvenile mentality when getting caught; first smugness, then when she realizes she is going to due some hard time, she cries like a little kid that’s about to get spanked !

She can get, and should receive psychiatric treatment in prison . .

But they have nothing to hide, do they? It's not like anyone over there encouraged him in any way or engaged in inciteful or hate speech, surely? And hey, who needs Habeus Corpus, right, freeps? Once everyone's phone records, bank statements, and other transactions have been checked, all computer hard drives and other property seized will be returned, no doubt. Eventually.

To Joe Bob Briggs in the Joe Bob Report. For those of you who don't know Joe Bob, he hosted Drive-In Theater on television several years ago. Anyway, there are several letters from Chad to Joe Bob concerning several flicks. Oy.

>>Hasn't this happened before at his Harlem office?......it's probably his drug dealer.<<

I've never seen someone more desperate for attention and approval.<<

I heard from a liberal blog that Olbermann was a prima donna at the hospital, giving the medical staff and the cops a hard time .

Keith is a whiny little b@tch !

Accepting that, I do not believe he sent it to himself .

But that is just guess work .

53. An FYI for those not familiar with "Lexx," the series he's referring to.
It was a fairly silly British/German sci-fi TV series, very high on the level of camp, high on the level of cheap sexual innuendo and references, trying to be funny but never really making it. They used to show it on the SciFi Channel, and I happened to see a few episodes. Think of it as Monty Python in Space, but minus the actual humor.

I find the idea that he considers it some major milestone in television to be disturbing on many levels.

It sounds to me, though, from the references to cheapo TV productions in Canada, that somebody was a little pissed over Battlestar Galactica's real-world parallelisms.

I recently listened to the podcasts for this season, and Ronald Moore claims that there isn't an overt intention to parallel Iraq, however he does say that what's been happening in Iraq certainly influenced him and the other writers. Then he reiterated that the beginnings of this season was not intended to be an indictment of Iraq, but make a statement about war and occupation in general.

A lot of boys in their mommies' basements are about to lose their hard drives and privacy to that investigation. Esp. the ones who communicated with that criminal on message boards. The few who are actually employed and have posted to freeperville or other boards while at work will find their workplace computers seized. Their employers will be just thrilled.

I wonder if they know that the gov't. no longer has to return their property once it's been seized in a HS-related investigation?

291. Not a white supremisist, but a right-wing zealot
All his targets are outspoken Dems/progressives or who have been critical of the republican party. This is very reminiscent of the anthrax letters that were sent to Congress in 2001, which were sent ONLY to Dem members of congress.

...Some of the letters contained rants, such as "Death to Demagogues" and references to Alan Berg, a Jewish talk-show host killed in 1984 by white supremacists in Denver. The white powder in the envelopes was tested and not found to be hazardous, the FBI said in a statement...

Anybody know what the Alan Berg thing is about?

EDIT: Ahhh. I see Alan Berg was the basis for Eric Bogosian's "Talk Radio".

122. I was living in Denver when he was killed

I never listened to his radio program, but apparently, it was very "Mike Malloy" type. The skinheads really hated him... and eventually one of them (son of a prominent racist leader??? don't remember now), anyway, they ambushed him outside his home and shot him to death. It was quite shocking at the time.

143. Alan Berg was killed by a group that called themselves...
The Bruders Schweigen(The Silent Brotherhood), and that the press misnamed The Order.

For more on the whole mess, and how closely they track to the aberrance we call "The Right" and "Freepers" these days(and they track so closely it will scare you...), there is a book out there, published in 1985, called "The Silent Brotherhood".

It is one of the most illuminating books on the right I have ever read, period. The direct line between the extreme groups of the right, starting with The John Birch Society of the 50's and 60's and the right as we know it now, including and especially the most extreme and violent groups, is offered up in stark relief. Quite unintentionally, I might add. After all, this was written a good while back and is surprisingly objective in its stance. At least to these eyes.

It is a book I suggest all reasonable people read. Most informative. Another great resource is David Neiwart, who blogs over at "Orcinus".

Short version of it all: The Republican Party courted and absorbed the right's most extreme elements for political gain. Period.

162. Yes, that's my opinion too.
first, thanks, I forgot they were named in the press as "The Order".

Second, it's been my opinion that we haven't heard that much from the militiamen (they will now have to come up with a new term since Iraq) and folks like "The Order" became simply part of the process or, if not involved directly (civic duty isn't their strong suit), they became more restive as government policy became more to their way of thinking. Now that there has been a sea change, they will come out of the rotten woodwork of the republican party were they've been hiding and we will have more domestic right wing terrorists on our hands. The freeper from this incidence is just the beginning, in my opinion, of a new round of aggression from these folks.

Sadistic Serial Murder Flick with Slasher Film Cheesiness !, 21 July 2006

Author: Maldarrin from United States

*** This comment may contain spoilers ***

Best thing I can say about this porno-horror film is: boobies boobies boobies !

Beyond that, this film is made by some Hindu/Indian guy with some background in porn films or such .

Plot: Talk-Show host and girlfriend are stalked by a psychopath who is angry over the plight of the homeless and takes it out on, you guessed it, beautiful real-estate agent ladies ! (films like these are why the slasher films of the 80's got a rep for misogyny)

This film is not really a Slasher, but has the same sort of implausibilities and stereotypes: the dumb-ass cops, the villain is an old white male, and the women are busty babes .

If you like porno-horror, this is your movie, otherwise stay away . (Adrienne fans will get to see her sagging breasts for a second or two)

This movie is vulgar, lame , unfunny, and insulting to Mexicans !

Definitely a film for those who hold that loudmouth Jon Stewart is something other than a tacky, banal, second-rate comedienne .

This film with Jack Black as the main star is so unfunny it makes me want to puke . Black should not re-enter Mexico, for when they catch wind of this film, they'll want to lynch him for this movie's stereotyping . .

The ghost of El Santo must be turning in his grave right now . For those unfamiliar with such, he was a Mexican Wrestler turned into a sort of B movie actor/superhero . He played himself !

This flick is a sort of parody of that character ~ only the real El Santo films were ten times more enjoyable than this !

The only nice thing about this flick is the shots of the Mexican countryside, which are quite scenic, if you like ranch country . .

The Vindicator (1986)
Post-Terminator meets the Pre-Robocop, 25 September 2006

This movie is an evolutionary piece - from Terminator to Robocop .

Stan Winston did the SPFX !

In this film, a scientist working in a sinister robotics company with a really creepy boss(they always are) gets is killed by them in a horrible lab explosion and has his brain placed inside an indestructible robot body .

The rest of this movie goes on with a romance angle as this Cyborg/Man regains consciousness and wreaks havoc while trying to communicate with his wife, played by the gorgeous(back then in 1986) Terri Austin . (He tries to reconnect with his old life, like in that scene in RoboCop)

The rest of this movie is about breaking things, while trying to defeat the evil his evil boss from recapturing him for some ill-defined 'turn humans into cyborgs' project .

This film pays homage to previous movies like THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL - - as the cyborg breaks free like the giant robot Gort does .

Except for the 'Frankenstein Suite' designed by Stan Winston, this movie's production values are typically Canadian: SLEAZY ! !

Pam Grier stars in this film as an hired killer-commando, a cheap role of the likes she was doing so much of during the 80's .

As for a Sci-Fi Horror B movie, out of 4 Stars, this film ranks about a <3

Silent Hill (2006)

Hash Horror from Canada, 2 September 2006

This vulgar vile movie is typical of Canadian exploitation: Comic Book, Horror, Sci-Fi, Dark Fantasy, Porn, Slasher - - -

They ripoff off The Matrix, Stephen King; Carrie, The Others, etc.

There is one bimbo that plays a cop who wears tight leather pants !

So much cheap CGI animation, this movie looks cartoonish .

Why did this dreck get release in theaters at all ? It should have gone straight to DVD

As typical in the Sci-Fi/Horror genre, we have the villainous Christians~ that is the Stephen King effect . .

Another example of Pop Culture as poison . . .

The Cave (2005)

ALIENS in an underground cavern !, 20 August 2006

*** This comment may contain spoilers ***

This movie features a lot of eye-candy - - Piper Pirabo being the yummiest :-)

In the scene where she is attacked and grappled by the flying monster, why doesn't the creature f@ck her ?

It was a man after all !

This male creature has not nailed some tail in thirty years and does not use this opportunity to slam dunk this chick . .

What is a monster good for if it does not kill the men and rape the women :-)

Beyond that, this is your usual sci-fi horror fair ......

The pseudo-science of evolution .

The nasty white male .

The attractive women scientist .

The exotic looking location(a plus).

The cast is a rainbow coalition(always).

- - Science Fiction may not be original, but it is always Politically Correct !

Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (2004) (V)
The Idea has been done before !, 12 August 2006

The only reason to watch this film is to see Kelly Carlson from NIP/TUCK fame, completely nude and evil and hot-to-trot !(but then again, are not all sexually aggressive females wicked ?)

Beyond that, Ed Neumier has finally made the movie he wanted to make in the first place(based on an earlier script called: Bug Hunt) - - when he and producer Jon Davidson optioned the rights to the Heinlein books, and only used the title, not any of the story !

This film's plot has been done before, in a 1984 production(released in 1985) called: CREATURE, by Will Malone and starring the late Klaus Kinski ~ as a German mad-scientist(aren't they all !)

And that film was a superior movie to this cheapo dreck !

The Descent (2005)
2 out of 3 people found the following comment useful :-
Superior to its' predecessors, 10 August 2006

This is the best 'ALIEN in the underground cavern' movie ever !

The first film of this sub-genre, was not last year's: THE CAVE - - no, the first movie of this premise was 1984's WHAT WAITS BELOW, a film that Jim Cameron ripped from when he made THE ABYSS !

The best thing about this scary chick-flick is not the complete lack of male cast(all of the monsters, save one, are male apparently), no . It is the complete lack of pseudo-scientific explanations that you find predominating in Science Fiction .

To be sure, they give an brief explanation, without the techno-jargon !

Good performances all around, and credible too ! No 'I am woman hear me roar' propaganda, that you always seem to find in these 'Alienesque' films ~ they just do what they have to do to survive, no femminazi sermons at all ! !

Not for children nor the squeamish, though to be sure, I have seen sci-fi horror films far more gory and gruesome than this ! Despite what the commercial promoting this movie boasted about- - the 'splatter' is not excessive(considering the content material) nor is it gratuitous .

I highly recommend to all over the age of 17

Starship Troopers (1997)
Soldiers of the future battle really big bugs !, 25 July 2006

*** This comment may contain spoilers ***

This movie has essentially nothing to do with the Sci-Fi classic by Robert Heinlein .

In the book the 'Bugs' are intelligent and have spacecraft and weapons of their own .

In the book, the Bugs take prisoners(which explains why they just don't nuke these bug infested planets)

In this film the Power Suits are out, to hard to realize, even with the enormous budget of this film ~ 90 million dollars .

No talking smart dogs, the book's K-9 Corp !

In the novel, Dina Meyer's character Dizzy Flores, is a man who gets killed early the book .

The book's main character, Jonny Rico, is revealed to be Philipino, in the movie, he is a white boy ~

Johny Rico's father is not killed in the novel, he survives to join the military himself .

Also, the film vaguely alludes to the cause of this war- - in the book, the author is indirect- but it boils down to a battle for cosmic real estate, 'living space' . .

Finally, the movie has no mention of the other alien race, the 'Skinnies' - - living them out kind of make this movie a little like ALIENS = a sterile universe . . . .

Very little of the philosophical discourse of the book is in this movie, which is 'the cause' for the novel - a tome that has much to say about American society that is strikingly prophetic(the novel was penned in 1959) about our country at the end of the 20th century .

Robert Heinlein was indeed a visionary ! (story has it he invented the Water Bed)

I saw this movie partly because I like Dina Meyer . Denise Richards is better remembered in this movie, but I think Dina is obviously a much better actress .

Her death scene is the only deep emotional scene in this whole movie with its' mostly cardboard characters .

Dina Meyer should have gotten some kind of award for that scene alone . . . .

Blood Shack (1971)
Grade Z slasher film, with one good bimbo, in the desert, 12 July 2006

*** This comment may contain spoilers ***

This movie by Ray Dennis Steckler, who is a sort of an Ed Wood on the road type, added about < 19 minutes of Rodeo footage to this flick in order to get a theatrical release . So runtime, including the credits is ~ 74 minutes .

Beyond that, this is your typical stalk 'n' slasher film . Psycho in a black hood runs around stabbing people . First victim: the snotty teenage blond girl(how typical), and that is the only good scene in the entire movie . More killings entail: the boyfriend/hubby who comes looking, the dumb-ass sheriff - get whacked fairly quickly . Laurel Spring, who plays Connie, is a cute 70's girl !

The rest of this movie is blah blah blah, irrelevant .

This film came out in 71, which means it came out before 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and a full seven years before 'Halloween' .

Shouldn't that give this horror flick some points for being first ?

Re-released on video tape in the early 1980's to cash in on the slasher film craze . .

At least they found the person who sent Keith Olbermann the fake anthrax. I hope, now that he can finally speak about it at length, he reports on sites like FR, LGF, Malkin, L-Dotter, et al.

It needs to be exposed that "terrorism" comes in all shapes, sizes and skin tones.

Kicking and recommending.

They're a bunch of sick f**ks over there, this doesn't surprise me at all. And talk about losing the thread: "anti-mankind cynicism and fatalism" to describe Roddenberry?

Gene Roddenberry had an undying faith in our goodness and a real optimism (as opposed to Bush** optimism) about our future, if only we learn to accept our differences and work together. Evidently Costanzo -- like most RW radicals -- prefers to get his own way by any means necessary, even if it means engaging in terrorism.

What a sad bastard. Maybe prison will teach him how truly bleak the future can be for those who insist on living in ignorance and hate.

Local composer arrested for sending bomb threats via e-mail to BWI Airport
Laura Greenback, The Examiner
Oct 14, 2006 5:00 AM (30 days ago

Spicka received two felony charges of making a false statement of a destructive device, which each carry up to a $10,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison. He also received one count of interfering with security procedures, which Green said is a lesser charge. It has not been decided if federal charges will be filed.

Spicka was released on his own recognizance. The phone line for George Spicka’s residence was busy and then disconnected Friday.

164. That is wrong, but there are those on the left who do similar things
I don't like people trying to intimidate me over political statements, but I don't get that a lot in metro Detroit over liberal messages. I wouldn't want to drive through some neighborhoods of Detroit with a Bush sticker on my car, though.

What I do get sometimes in Warren is bad, but not freeper stuff. I had one of my black friends stay at my house one night, only to find KKK literature on my porch the next morning. The bastards actually had a phone number, so I called it (after hitting *67) and left a message to the effect that I don't know what the printer of the message or the one who left it intended, but I would not tolerate that kind of crap and if I ever see anyone leaving it, they better hope all I do is call the cops.

I never got another one, and my friend has been over several times since. But because it was such a nasty and vicious pamphlet, I would not blame all conservatives, or the freepers in my midst. No one at Free Republic endorses the Klan, that I've ever seen there. I think they would ban anyone who expressed that type of sentiment, just like DU would.

i dont agree with you at all that the democrats in the democratic party are as threatening or behave in the same characteristic manner at all.

that being said

of course not all on fr behave in this manner. but having spent time on repub/dem boards and repub boards i am clever enough to see the difference in mentality between the democrat and the republican. and there is no way i am going to sweep it under the rug with both do it. both dont do it.

i am in the very red panhandle of texas. i do not know a single democrat. i live, talk, am friends and family members of these people and i dont pretend they are something other than what they are. my kids went to a christian private school for 6 years right up to and after election, before i pulled them out because of the hate and anger that had manifested over the last couple years in the "christian" community. i heard their speak.

352. Both do NOT do these kinds of things ~
That's a rightwing media angle every time Republicans are caught doing wrong, ie, The Abramoff Affairs.

Certainly it's a minority of Republicans who engage in this kind of hate, but for several years now, this dangerous attitude of harming political opponents has emanated from the extreme right.

I personally have been threatened with violence simply for stating a political viewpoint by rightwingers. And some of what is allowed on rightwing talk shows feeds into the disturbed minds out there and it is/was only a matter of time before some of them acted on their violent fantasies, fantasies some of them are not shy about broadcasting, ie in the form of bumper-stickers encouraging the hunting down of Liberals eg.

We know the left would never get away with what they've gotten away with, ie Ann Coulter suggesting violence towards public figures. They promote these lunatics (Coulter et al) and as is evident in this case, this guy was a Coulter fan.

Don't forget Laura Ingraham's little games during the election either.

People like Coulter, Savage, Limbaugh et al have promoted a culture of hatred and intolerance against their fellow citizens simply for holding different political views. It's disgusting and should have been condemned long ago by Politicians eg, who get their support. But it wasn't. Instead these media outlets, Talk Radio, FR etc were probably financed and promoted by the Republican Party.

There is nothing comparable to the rightwing hate-machine on the left that I know of, and if there was, I expect it would have been condemned. I know I would never, ever want to be involved with anyone who spewed the kind of garbage I've heard and seen coming from the right.

I wonder how Tony Snow feels about his fellow freeper.

You'll find nuts within any group. You'll find self-hating homosexuals running churches, serial killer scout masters, wife-killing environmentalists, etc. So you can't always say that such a person represents the group because that sort of thing isn't in the group's core values.

That being said, how many Freepers do we know of who are killers or criminals? I know of reading about one Freeper who killed his wife and a judge, this guy making terrorist threats... are there any I missed? Are there any other DU'ers who have had run-ins with the law like this? Like I said, it's not fair to tar and entire group with a broad brush when it's an individual who did the crime but I think it'd be an interesting factoid if there are these nutjobs on Free Republic but we don't have a similar distribution of nutjobs on DU. It would make you wonder if the nutjob concentration is higher there.

The short answer is "yes".

In the over four years I've been posting here at DU, every quote from a "Freeper" that's been posted here has been nothing short of lunacy. Some of them read as if they'd been written by inmates in lock-down with way too much time on their hands, or from a mental health facility for the criminally insane. The mentality on that site is just too twisted and bizarre.

Somehow I suspect that "Chad" is just the tip of the iceberg over at FR.

254. It reminds me of a forwarded email, with hundreds of responses, but no real
indication of who is responding to who, much less what, exactly, they are responding to. Contrast that with the sub-threads that you see here, with posts being appropriately placed if they're responding to someone. That's just one aspect of it, of course.

403. I'm single and into sci-fi.
I bet there are a lot of single people into sci-fi that fall on every part of any spectrum you can think of.

I guess my point is: What are you trying to say? Is it the sci-fi that made him do it? Do Republican terrorists like sci-fi disproportionately? Do single people tend towards terror?

My guess is: You're not single and you don't like sci-fi. Just because a person is part of a group that you're not a part of is not a legitimate reason to denigrate the group.

Not a big deal, just if it was some other group everyone would be on your case. There are plenty of reasons to not like this guy and you pick those two?

451. Hehe . . . relax, dude. I actually love sci-fi. I sent a postcard to NBC
when I was about 8 years old to keep the original Star Trek on the air.

It's just that the stereotype of the 39 year old socially-inept nerd that's really into sci-fi living in his mom's basement unfortunately has a kernal of truth to it, in this case.

Think of the comic book shop owner on The Simpsons . . .

Don't take it personally.

http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Fake_anthrax_hoax_by_conservative_blogger_1113.html

Anthrax hoaxer may be Free Republic poster

The man arrested on Saturday for sending more than a dozen envelopes containing "fake anthrax" to anti-war celebrities, journalists, and politicians may have ties to the conservative supersite Free Republic, RAW STORY has found.

Chad Castagana, a 39 year old Californian named as the FBI's prime suspect in the case, is due in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles today, where procecutors are expected to file criminal complaint against him for sending threatening letters through the U.S. mail. Castagana has an extensive online history, often writing about science fiction and conservative politics, and many bloggers are convinced that he is also a contributor at the conservative activist Free Republic website under the name Marc Costanzo...

287. I can't say
My hope is that the FBI goes after real threats, like the ones perpetrated on Keith Olbermann/Pelosi/Schumer/Stewart/Letterman. My belief is that the apprehension of Chad was/is a direct result of the investigation into the powder sent through the mail to the above-named persons.

I cannot say who is and is not targeted by the FBI.

216. Somehow it makes sense that freepers hate sci-fi.
After all, lots of popular science-fiction does show a hopeful and multicultural future - the message being, if we hope to survive as a species and a planet, we're going to have to put aside our differences, both on Earth and with alien species - whose outlooks may not match our own, but are equally valid. In other words, the future is most assuredly with the liberals - because the alternative is no future at all.

This loser sounds like he was offended that Captain Picard is French. Heh.

275. His use of language sounds like the Unabomber -
He's a far right nut-job, which the Unabomber was not, but his wordings sound like "The Manifesto" - rambling, paranoid, and a little psychotic, with gratuitous use of "big" words" just for the sake of sounding lofty. In fact, he's an angry, frightened little boy who feels powerless and threatened, so he lashes out.

Scary. And sad.

Liberal blog claims "fake anthrax" mailer is a Freeper
Raw story ^ | Monday November 13, 2006 | Larisa Alexandrovna and Brian Beutler

Posted on 11/13/2006 10:21:14 AM PST by mucho muchacho

The man arrested on Saturday for sending more than a dozen envelopes containing "fake anthrax" to anti-war celebrities, journalists, and politicians may have ties to the conservative supersite Free Republic, RAW STORY has found.

Chad Castagana, a 39 year old Californian named as the FBI's prime suspect in the case, is due in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles today, where procecutors are expected to file criminal complaint against him for sending threatening letters through the U.S. mail. Castagana has an extensive online history, often writing about science fiction and conservative politics, and many bloggers are convinced that he is also a contributor at the conservative activist Free Republic website under the name Marc Costanzo.

Earlier today, users at the liberal websites Democratic Underground and Daily Kos brought to light the similarities between Castagana's Internet footprint and Costanzo's writings at Free Republic, and RAW STORY has found a series of eyebrow-raising connections between the two men.

I saw a reference to anthrax/powder when I signed on to internet (top story of AOL). I searched and found this story on Google and emailed info about it to marc costanzo (not realizing at that point it was posted). Pretty serious accusation of the Kos & DU nuts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 4 - (from April 21, 2003) Ryan A. Wooley writes: "I was hoping that you could help me out with something. I'm trying to remember the name of this movie that I saw about 8 years ago. It was pretty low-budget but I thought it had a pretty neat story to it. All I can remember though is that this woman gets pregnant and her baby is going to be a demon of some kind. She talks to it while it's in her stomach and I think it tells her to do stuff for it. Then there's a scene where she's having sex with some guy and her baby tugs at him while he's inside her. Any ideas? I'm also thinking that Ricki Lake made a small appearance in it. But I even checked her filmography and couldn't find it. Can you help me out? thanks."
Answer : We received eight correct answers so the winner was chosen by drawing. Tyler Durden of Pennington Gap, VA. writes: "Baby Blood aka The Demon Within. This is a wierd movie, Gary Oldman does the demons voice."

Also answering correctly were: The Reverend Shayne Dark of Gloucester, Ontario, Bryan Clark of Plymouth, IA, Chad Castagana of Woodland Hills CA, Saul Fischer of New York, NY, Jason Burchfield of Harriman, TN, Corey Hall of Ft. Collins, CO and Eric Harvey of Atlanta, GA.

Dear Joe Bob

Whatever happened to that magnificently voluptous actress , Charlie Spradling ? She starred in some movies in the early 90's (MERIDIAN, PUPPETMASTER 3 , MIRROR MIRROR , SLEEP WITH A VAMPIRE) then she quickly faded from view . The last I saw of her was in this sleazy movie CONVICT 972 - apparently she has stopped doing topless roles after the early 90's . Is she still making movies ? Is she married ? Or is she dead ?

Those 'perfect' breasts of her's can't be real . . .

Chad Castagana

Dear Chad,

I know she did get married, but I can't for the life of me remember which actor she married. Maybe someone out there will know.

Hang in there,

Joe Bob

(Editor's note: She was a stripper for a bit. Then she married the guitar player for Pretty Boy Floyd. This info is from one of Charlie's co-stars from the movie, SUMMER SCHOOL)

I remember seeing this flick when I was not yet 12 yrs old !
At the time I liked it, but even then I said," hey,
how come they send men in torpedoes into that enemy
vessel, why not bombs !"
Years later I see this dreadful crap as worse than
Battlefield Earth ! And really terrible acting to boot !

Rep Katherine Harris of Florida is indeed one very attractive politician .
And: She is a Graduate of Harvard Business School .

This picture is obviously fake !
Probably invented by Salon.com or other such louts .
Ann Coulter is a very feminine lady and would never pose for this picture .
Beyond that, the lower body does not seem to match the upper torso !
Obviously PhotoShop . .

Wel, I cannot accuse the Moonbats here of much originality nor good grammar !
One commenter above descibes Ann as 'Mugly' ?
What is that ?
An MTV neologism, or some liberal turd's lack of 'spell-check'
Beyond that, they make statements that are irrelevent to the topic: is the image linked to this thread, real or photoshop ?
Typical of Libs & Lefties short attention span and tendency to wander !
I could diverge and say: hey, has that loudmouth demagogue/talkshow-host Jon Stewart had a rhinoplasty job on his greasy monotone face ?

Hey, here is another factor- -
The New York Post is the only newspaper that reported Keith Olbermann's panic attack when he discovered that someone had mailed him a 'Prank Anthrax' letter .
The New York Daily News reported the incident in Clinton's Harlem office the other day, and did so in a semi-humorous way :-)
Maybe the American People like to read about such stuff .
The NY Post got high circulation in the 1980's by headlining stories about serial killers .

>>Hasn't this happened before at his Harlem office?......it's probably his drug dealer.<<

385. That's an old habit of Grifter Jim's: ban posters that embarrass...
...their scuzzy little website, and then claim they were a "retread" or "troll." I wouldn't believe a word of it: a few years back a freeper in good standing exposed a DU'ers identity and, if I remember correctly, the DU'er lost their real world job. When this came out and proved embarrassing to the freepii, Grifter Jim banned the freeper in question instantly.

Besides which, Robinson does not really run free republic as a function of any beliefs he has, or ideology: it's how he puts groceries on the table and lives a pretty easy lifestyle. For JimRob, it's about $$$$ first, politics second.

home. He likes serial killers!
http://www.critcononline.com/emails.htm

Dear Mr. Adelman

I have been looking for this title of this 1992 film for years. It is based on the Riverside/Lake Elsinore Serial Killings. The murderer did the favor of dumping one of his victims near where they were filming this movie in Corona, CA. Maybe the director, Jim McBrearity, never released it. The film is a semi-sequel to SORORITY GIRLS AND THE CREATURE FROM HELL (1991), both starring Debra Dutch.

Chad Castagana

The film you are thinking of is ROADSIDE JUSTICE (1992). It stars Gene Sorenson, Simon Shamonui, Debbie Dare and Lynette McBrearty. It was directed and produced by John McBrearty who also directed the above mentioned SORORITY GIRLS. It is not available on video and I believe it was shown only once on the USA Network sometime in the early to mid-90's and then disappeared from view. I hope your brain stops burning now. - Editor.

You have to be a little crazy to do something this stupid. Was this action worth the risk of it's reprecussions?

After reading a few threads over at Free Republick, I have concluded that most members of that site are very sick, twisted, angry individuals looking for a purpose in life.

Belief is very powerful and at the same time dangerous. From what I have read and heard, most serial killers also "believe" what they are doing is justified.

433. "The Castagana Correspondence: Right What You Know" RADAR EXCLUSIVE
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 11:26 PM by mcg
http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2006/11/the-castagana-correspondence-right-what-you-know.php

' Surprise! Nancy Pelosi's powder pal doesn't just think Katherine Harris is a "remarkable lady"—as we reported after perusing what appear to be his Free Republic posts—he puts his money where his mouth is.

According to an FBI affidavit obtained by Radar, Chad Conrad Castagana, who was arrested Monday on suspicion of sending powder-filled envelopes to Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart, Sumner Redstone, David Letterman, Pelosi, and New York Senator Charles Schumer, purchased a $15 money order made out to "Friends of Katherine Harris" last September at a Woodland Hills, Calif., post office while he was picking up the envelopes and stamps he employed to terrorize the liberal elite.

According to the affidavit, Castagana, an "average looking" 39-year-old white guy who lives with his parents in Woodland Hills, attempted to send 13 fake anthrax letters to the aforementioned victims starting in September. We say "attempted" because the first letter, which contained the message, "Do you know Alan Berg? You should. Death to demagogues," and a harmless white powder, was sent to a poor sap on the Upper West Side named Jon Stewart—but not that Jon Stewart. (Alan Berg is the Jewish talk-radio host murdered by white-supremacists in Denver in 1984.)

Not to worry—according to the affidavit, Castagana sent back-up letters to Stewart's office at Comedy Central and his actual home address. All bore return addresses from left-leaning luminaries like Norman Lear, Susan Estrich and ... William Shatner. ... '

438. Chad's MK484 AM Receiver
http://www.zen22142.zen.co.uk/Circuits/rf/chad484.htm

Circuit :Chad Castagana, Woodland Hills, CA
Email : chcastaga@aol.com

<snip>

Notes:

Chad has built a complete radio receiver using 1 IC and a single transistor. The IC requires around 1.2 to 1.6V and this is supplied via the 3V battery in series with 2 diodes 1N4114 diodes, (1N4004 can be substituted) and the 2k volume control.

Coil Details:
The Loopstick Coil is 2 7/8" in length and 6/16" in diameter. Tickler Coil is 6 turns -- and is spaced about one inch from primary coil. Primary coil is wound with 28 gauge enameled wire and the feedback coil is plastic insulated -- similar gauge . I do not know the permeability of the ferrite rod, I would guess it is 50 or so, for this is a ferramic and not powdered iron . The small 18pf ceramic condenser that provides the feedback can be as high as 22pF or even 33pF . .

Chads finished receiver can be seen below.

Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 10:33 AM by symbolman
Than WHAT did he think of what is quite possibly the WORST SCI FI FILM (outside of "Plan 9 From Outer Space") ever made?

I'm speaking of "Battle Field Earth".. Was L. RON Hubbard so Swacked on Scientology that he couldn't write Sci Fi to save his soul?

Here's what Mr Cranky has to say about the film : http://www.mrcranky.com/movies/battlefieldearth.html "One of the WORST FILMS EVER MADE.."

And I agree. Travolta dressed up in Disco Kiss Boots and Ratty GIANT HAIR, with SNOT hanging from his nose the whole movie, and all about a SPACE CORPORATE CULTURE Bent on Destruction of everything and Every Being, as they GO FOR THE GOLD, literally.. Total expose of how Corporate Culture would take it all down the tubes with them, about the only real message, whether intentional or not.. that MAN if given Knowledge would FIGHT Corporate Bastards, and somehow this would make him Enlightened.. Just a Nutty Ass poor excuse for a movie, I watched it in awe, that a film made in the 20th century and so long after Ed Woods could actually BE WORSE than "Plan NINE from Outer Space" which at least had a sort of Charm to it...

Here's the quotes from Freeper TerrorMan:

"SF Has No Space for PC

With the passing away of Lexx ends an intriguing albeit smarmy experiment in sci-fantasy.

The future is not the current events of our world thrown into outer space. The future is not with the Liberals, not with the Multiculturalists (both hate America), and it is certainly not to be found in Canada! The future is not written, the future is unformed.

Chad Castagana"

SO then would he have LOVED "Battlefield Earth"? Was/IS he an Atheist? Did he think that when it all blows up at the end that it "blowed up real GOOD"?

Silly to ask I know, but the workings of the minds of Insane people fascinate me - I actually worked in two insane asylums, and know what? I met some of the nicest people you'd ever want to know in there. No Pretense, no ego, living in the moment like a Zen master, and a LOT less fucked up and MEAN than the average guy in the street..

But always remember this. If a crazy person puzzles you, and you THINK you can figure it out, don't Bother. You can't see WHY they did something because YOU AREN'T CRAZY..

So don't bother your pretty little beautiful mind about it.

Since it's a crazy world and getting weirder all the time, do you think that Bush Might Pardon this guy? Either Bush, doesn't matter, the elder one seemed to be more prone to Pardon EVERYONE, even drug runners doing 100 years of HARD TIME, but Junior hasn't had his turn at BAT, and as classless as he is, and clueless as well, I'm willing to bet that he'll PARDON HIMSELF First of ALL.

Meanwhile we have a Freeper FILM critic to flay, what do you think? "BattleField Earth" a Freeper's wet dream, or was there NOT enough Harris and Coulter in there? :)
