Should Ben Nelson be rewarded with any Chairmanship or select committee?
Should the Democrats reward those that have voted more with the GOP than with the Democrats? Just because they say they are a Democrat does not make them so. I recall a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that could fit here as well. "Don't tell me you are Christian, let me figure it out on my own." I feel the same about Democrats. Let me figure it out on my own by your actions....

1. Ben Nelson is a joke. And you're right, he isn't a dem. But
here in E-I-E-I-O Land, you can't expect much more when the head of the democratic party is a corporate lawyer who would could actually be a member of the Lollypop Guild.

3. I don't think he'll be chairing any committees
but if he chairs a select committee, so be it. I really don't think dems in the senate are as stupid as DUers. They understand that they need all their members.

4. Wow! Let's just insult people!

Oh, I forgot. Dems are conservative or centrists now. We wouldn't want to be known as "liberals", would we?

5. I'm definitely not a centrist
I'm a liberal. I also live in reality. And punishing Ben Nelson for representing his constituents in NE (he has one of the highest approval ratings of any Senator in the country) would be really stupid. The Senate is a seniority based system. And sorry, it's just stupid to talk about punishing him.

6. Sorry for overreacting.
I'm just sick of being told on these boards lately that liberals and progressives did not contribute to the outcomes of the election and that it's all about making nice to people who spent the last 6 years knifing the working person, women, children, the elderly, and you name in the backs. I guess the Dixie Chicks said it for me..."I'm not ready to make nice...".

8. Nah, don't think twice about it
I understand your frustration. It's just I really, really want to keep the Senate becauase of the Liberals who'll chair committees. The thought of Boxer chairing environment, Kennedy chairing Health and education, and Leahy chairing judiciary, makes me very happy.

Stupid is as stupid does and I have read your posts for quite some time so I guess I would have to fall into that catagory.
