1. How utterly surprising. Really, who would have guessed?
Just because DU warned everyone to fill up on the way home from the polls?

5. A republican "buddy" sneered and scoffed
when I told him the drop was pre-election politics.
He said it was international oil prices and had nothing to do with gas prices in the USA.

He went on about refineries, and I told him about refinery plant reductions and scarcity causing higher prices.
Man these folks are arrogant about what they want to think is true.

He shut up a LITTLE while when I told him of the Bush/Saudi connection.

6. By New Year's Day, it'll be back to $3/gal, see what he has to say then
It wasn't just "mmm...suspicious" this year, it was Fucking Blatant.

7. Yeah, he skipped buying a new SUV today
and mentioned the 14MPG gas mileage making the truck price too high for the market. Said gas would probably keep going up too.
:banghead:
Smart people get brainwashed so easily. They have a fatal flaw that prevents critical thinking. They retain input well, and unquestioned. And they respect the authority figure giving the information.

But they can't seem to conceptualize the big picture, think critically, or just love to hate some outgroup to make themselves feel good somehow. Humility is a weakness to them, almost to a person. I doubt they take a look at the 7 deadly sins where PRIDE leads the list. Not judging by their POWER of PRIDE bumperstickers.

So will we get Cheney's secret energy meeting papers? Or are they composting somewhere in the Dakotas?

2. I can tell
Gas has jumped nearly 20 cents in my area. It doesn't sound like a lot now, but when we get back up to $2.80 again, well, yeah. Seems like since the Republicans lost the election, they might as well put the gas back up so they have something to fall back on from their loss.

It seemed funny though how it mysteriously dropped nearly $.50 a week before the election to make it look like the Republicans did something while in power.

4. Before the election, I told my hubbythat gas prices will go up after
the election. He asked if I was really sure they were being manipulated by the Pubs just to win the election. I said I didn't have any proof, but I sure believed it!

I'll have to remind him of that conversation tomorrow!

3. OPEC warned of production cuts
The Sunday before the election they said they wanted to push oil back up to at least $60 a barrel. Oil started trending up around Oct 27th. Too bad the low gas prices weren't quite enough to fool people this time.

A fairly insignificant move.

11. Huh, but if gas prices rise by a PENNY
during the election season, it's hailed as vindication for the oil giants!

Gas price rise undermines U.S. election conspiracy

"The Energy Department reported Monday that the national price for gasoline increased a penny to $2.22 a gallon last week, the first rise in three months."

15. I'M SHOCKED !
Shocked I tells ya !

I believe this is just what we predicted. Not exactly a bold prediction, either. The oil companies have been quite blatant with their corruption in the Cheney / Bush years. They have the same kind of assholes like Enron, who do anything, even treason, to fatten up the bottom line. When do we find out who helped plan our energy strategery in those secret meetings with tricky Dick?
