How Much Lower Can The Polls Drop For Bush?
Amy Goodman said, this morning, that Bush's approval had dropped to 31%. I don't know where she got that number but it didn't come as too much of a surprise. If its not 31% yet it will be soon and its going to go even lower.

His base has collapsed. There is nothing on the horizon that will bolster his approval. Hearings are coming that can only do further rating's damage. Such competent people as exist in Bush's administration will leave like rats abandoning a sinking ship.

George W. Bush, himself a rudderless fool, will leave the United States of America a rudderless nation for the next two years. His Presidency weakened beyond repair and with no meaningful base of support he will be left to defend Republican ideals with the Veto stamp. He has no other strong tools at his disposal anymore.

Begin to imagine, if you will, the next State of the Union Address. Will the war have improved in the next two months? The economy? The new Congress will have just been seated and the hearings will have just begun. What on earth is he going to say?

It is going to be a bleak winter for the other side, indeed, for the nation.

1. I'm surprised it's as high as 31%.
I would say it's really closer to 24%. No substance to back that up, but it just seems more realistic given the turnover in Congress and that negativity most people have toward him.

I'll bet the numbers continue to drop as the Dems start revealing the dirty secrets of this (mis)administration.

2. Who knows?
I put Chimp's hard support in the high-20's, maybe 26-28%. But I see him losing some of that support as revelations expose the outright incompetence of his administration. Even kool-aid drinkers can be swayed by the fact that the kool-aid is poison.

Chimp's approval will take a further dip between now and the time the 110th Congress convenes. Once investigations expose certain facts, we're going to see another outright plunge. How low could that go?

I will predict low-20's. I'd say 22-25%. Would that be historically low?

I think, if that happens, Chimp is toast. Impeachment would be inevitable.

3. Its the Beginning of the HEALING RECOVERY EFFORT
BUSH is reduced to a lame duck thingy useful for vetos.

He has impeded himself and the GOP in general for any kind of real rebound....they act like its gonna happen...that its the right thing to do, REBOUND.

I say...REBOUND TO WHAT? 6 more years of CRAP?

4. I believe she is referring to the latest Newsweek poll.

I don't know how much lower he will go, but I suspect that there is the avid base who will continue to support him just so they won't have to admit how wrong they were about him.

5. As Tina Fey said
"66% of people think that Bush is doing a terrible job. The other 34% believe that Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church."

7. I think that after the hearings
it could go as low as 25%.
