If it's not the Feds or a deliberate outage for data deletion by the Free Republic admins then this outage is due to increased traffic their way that is overwhelming them.
Clearly they are not used to this kind of traffic. Clearly their membership and page views are so low that they can't handle actual interest in their site. This proves that they are in over their heads technically but more importantly that they never had a need to deal with this kind of bandwidth.
There are no escalating levels of activity with plans to deal with it like we have here on DU. The admins here have developed a working system of dealing with intense traffic , honed over time through experience and expertise. This is probably the first bandwidth challenge for the irrelevant freerepublic. Exhibit A of their irrelevance.

I'm sure they haven't "cleaned" their servers beyond a forensic retrieval if necessary. I guess it's a cleaning for people like us. Good luck asshats. You can't delete everything or Google cache I'm sure.
It's so nice to have a new scandal to watch. It's been over a week since Haggard and I needed a fix.

Castagana's posts are still there. Maybe RimJob's too dumb to delete them? He hasn't updated his software in 10 years, after all...

30. That would be typical freeper for you |
|
We only erase posts if they disrupt or are a threat. They very well likely would erase them because they're now embarrassed, or because they don't want 'our kind' looking at them.

5. That's because our admins spend the donations on equipment and software |
|
and keeping it going and improving the site in all ways.
RimJob just keeps the donations for himself while pretending to spend it on the site.
probably spends it on pedophilic sex trips to Asia. And no, I don't mean that as a joke. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out he does.

RimJob's Freaks Repugnant would have been a lame joke of a badly-designed site back in 1995.

Now it seems normal.
However, there is no mention of Castagana. Even tried searching for a few terms, such as "Woodland Hills". Nada.
They must have went on a massive dumping spree.
Costanza's profile and other articles are still up, though I'm not sure if any incriminating ones are deleted. Luckily, The Google always has ways of caching this stuff.
RimJob must be sweating bulletts over there. Guess that RV will come in handy when he flees the country. Hope they don't mind him speaking English in Mexico.

29. Alexa gathers data from it's toolbar users... |
|
...so by having a high percentage of freepers using the toolbar, it makes their site appear popular and important (which is why they keep posting Alexa data).
I actually think it's quite cute, like a kid sending themselves a valentine card.
