I hope that Frist runs for president in '08 and is nominated! |
|
Bill Frist is retiring. Word is he wants to spend the next two years running for president. I want him to do that too. Now with "Macacca" Allen out of the '08 race, cat-killer Frist is my leading choice for the nomination. I know the media wants McCain or Guiliani ("America's Mayor"). I'm hoping Frist will be able to appeal to his parties right wing fundie base and give McCain a run for his $$.
In other words, Frist would be much easier, imo, than McCain for democrats to defeat and win back the WH in 2008.

him and Independents who think he is practically the second coming--some democrats I know like him too.

9. The media will be behind whomever the Repubs run. |
|
That is their job. Their owners buy them specifically so they can convince people to vote Republican, so the corporate owners can get tax giveaways worth far more than the measly media outlets can earn.
Frist, JEB, McCain... they'd push Lynne Cheney on us if they had to.

15. Frist has no common sense |
|
The guy is a heart surgeon so I don't have any doubt that his IQ is at least 50 points higher than *'s is. But the man has no common sense and no leadership instinct whatsoever.

10. I'm just looking at the possible nominees |
|
McCain, Rudy, Frist...and I think Frist would have a tougher time than either of the other two given their broader (Independent) support.

for all the Al Gore is so boring jokes.
Don't forget to ask them how they feel about Frist making millions off of abortions performed at his clinics.

At this point, the Republican party is basically a conservative party. Frist has cred with the religious right, thanks to "Justice Sunday" and other forms of Fristianity, and would be able to hold together the same coalition that Bush has had. The fact that he's done humanitarian work in Africa would make moderate evangelicals more likely to support him as well.
Compare with Guliani or McCain. McCain was hoping to become chairman of the Armed Services Committee this year and campaign on the strength of his leadership post. But that's been snatched away from him. Both McCain and Guliani would be ripped apart in the primaries, and then associated with Bush by the eventual Democratic nominee in the general elections.
Despite the fact that the media loves McCain, (and I do respect the fact that he's a POW) he may be the weakest in the field of Republican candidates. He's going to be asked in debates whether he still thinks the religious right is "evil" and when he gets into the general election, commercials will run of him hugging Bush. The fact that he's a veteran could help him...but what if Wesley Clark is the Democratic nominee?
There are other reasons, such as the fact that Frist would be perhaps the first Republican nominee from the South, which Democrats need to do moderately well in...but I think that Frist is not the weakest candidate by a long shot.

Saw him once here in Nashville speaking about healthcare. Absolute milqetoast. Linoleum patterns have more personality. People were snoring.

17. Whomever They Nominate, It's Gonna Be A Bloodsport |
|
Very much reminds me of the divisions that formed in the Democratic party in the early 70s...except in the other direction. The fight is now on for the "soul" of that soul-less party...and no one will come out strong, only leading to a further splintering of the party.
Frist is all but toast, but he'll still run cause he's a sanctimonious schmuck whose ego still says people take him serious. We don't. The same holds true to Macaca Allen now. On the "moderate" front, Guilliani is too "Catholic" for the freepers and Romney is too "Mormon". And McCain? Which one are we talking about here? The one who hated booooosh before he liked him?
Let's hope the GOOP draws knives and comes to the conclusion that the party lost because it wasn't "conservative enough"...it'll not only cost them more seats in '08 as well as the Executive, but for many years beyond that. The mood on the right is ugly and getting uglier. If there was a time for a third party to emerge, 2007 is the year. Stay tuned and get out the popcorn ...the fun is just starting.
