Do my ears deceive me? Just heard Rush Limpballs indicate he wants to call truce with Dems...
Edited on Mon Nov-13-06 03:43 PM by tex-wyo-dem
First off, I don't make it a habit to listen to Rush on a regular basis (my gaestro-intestinal system would have a real problem with that), but since AAR went off the air here in Dallas I occasionally flip through the plethora RW AM hate stations, more than anything to see what the enemy is talking about at any given time. I'll tell you that it's been quite fun listening the blowhards doing their hand-wringing and throwing out a myriad of excuses to why the Repugs lost the election last week in such dramatic fashion.

Anyway, today I flip to Rush on my way back from lunch and I notice that he's not quite his usual pompous, blowhard self. Then he starts talking about how he's been wondering, since 52% or more of the independent voters voted Dem this last election, if he has somehow contributed to the Rethug's loss and if he has been part of the ever growing divide in the country that he's noticed (you bet you have, Rush...you and the rest of the RW attack dogs). He then said he would like to sit down with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and discuss how they might be able to work together to close the divide and implement true conservative initiatives in the country that would be good for everyone, in a sense call a truce :wow:....he didn't say this in any sort of joking manner and seemed completely serious.

I had to go back to work at that point and couldn't hear what he had to say after the break, so I don't know if it was some sort of perverse joke or something, but if true...well boys and girls, hell hath truly frozen over. Either that or Rush sees the writing on the wall, that within a few short months or years of investigations that the RW and the Republican party may become decimated. I think he may realize that little boots and the whole corrupt Rep. gang in Washington has truly screwn the pooch and, as a result, the conservative party in this country may become irrelevant and may never recover....just my take on it.

Anybody else hear this? If not, Media Matters may have something on it later.

7. "work together to close the divide and implement true conservative initiatives"
Work together in a bipartisan fashion to implement what the CONSERVATIVES want. Sounds like Rush thinks we should maintain the status quo - because isn't that EXACTLY what the Repugs and Bush told the Dems for years? You can work with us to pass OUR LEGISLATION or you can be obstructionists.

I say lets pass some good PROGRESSIVE legislation - in the best interest of our country - like raising min wage, getting affordable prescription drugs and seeing that everyone has health care.

59. Deal or no deal? "NO DEAL, Howie!"
All kidding aside, this is an indication that the RW must know that they have seriously overplayed their hand. Rush never speaks off message (he can't--he's never had an original thought, ever) so you have to believe that the Pukes know some serious shit is going to come down. I don't think they thought that the Dems' win would come at all, much less be so overwelming. The tricks that the Pukes have been pulling are now obsolete, the backdoors are now closed and the noose is coming down. I think that all the contingencies that the RW thought would preserve their power failed them. Their hubris was their undoing, as it is in most cases of criminals who never can get enough. They are now in a situation in which "losing" does not just mean a veto, it means a conviction and jail time. THAT'S what they're afraid of.

If he's claiming a mea culpa, hes just trying to climb on your back so he can find a good spot to strike again.

That's what people like him do. They can't help it, thats just who they are.

Genetic outcasts of nature who pathologically hate and use others for their own gratification and gain.

Leopards and ammoral haters like Rush never change their spots. Or if they do, it takes years in the Federal Pen. Other than that, they never change their ways. Although they'll cry wolf like he is now.

People like Rush play on peoples sympathies in order to position themselves for the kill.

Because they always strike back.

Always.

but I don't know if he would try to pull off a stunt like this knowing his audience demographics who only understand one thing...and that's attack the Democrats no matter what. He could lose a big part of his idiot ditto-heads saying stuff like this.

Curiously, he also made a couple of references to how his job is to gain as big of an audience as he could and bring in as much advertiser dollars as possible....which made me wonder if his ratings are sinking as fast as KKKarl Rove's reputation as an election genius.

28. What truce is possible? He's always justified his cheap shots as fun parts of an entertainment show.
It would be like Saturday Night Live calling a truce on telling jokes. Okay, maybe that's a bad example. But it would be like if Leno or Letterman called a "jokes" truce or if MTV called a "music video" truce. Okay, the MTV example also doesn't apply. I'm losing track of my point.

My point is this: If you take away the name calling, the racist code words, and the cheap shot ridicule of everyone who thinks differently than him, Limbaugh doesn't have any show left. If he quits saying audacious things and questioning the patriotism of everyone who votes different from him, then he'd start losing ratings. His show lives on the red meat of induced outrage. Once he sees what polite and thoughtful criticism of differing viewpoints does to his ratings, he'll be back to playing the Jefferson's theme song in no time.

1. I'm not shocked to hear this. This idiot has never put forth his own actual viewpoint. He jsut says whatever brings in the money. A true rightwingnutradio whore. Whatever his pea-brained listeners want to hear. What difference would it make to him if he cozied up to the Dems? 2. I'm sure he DOES see the writing on the wall. Too bad, Rush. Boo freakin' hoo! You made your slimy bed, now lie in it. And STFU.

3. He's willing to meet with Pelosi and Reid? Gee, how magnanimous of him! But why on earth would they want to meet with a useless blowhard like him? Please. They have a loooooooong list of things to do already and saving his career had better not be close enough to the top to ever happen.
